Reading were mega-rubbish and a good team should have stuffed them. Delighted with the 3 points and each goal was a beauty but come on, we could, and should, have been 4 up at half time. Some of our play was very loose and possession given up far too easily. Same old formation and I bet we won't be seeing 4-4-2 for a long while, either. It's MON's way. January signings will be interesting. Be nice to think we do Man U, Spurs, Soton and Man C for 6-8 points meanwhile.... talk about faith, or what?

    jesus wept

can't you just enjoy the ****ing win and get yourself behind the team?

Reading have 26 goals across all competitions so far, we have 21. we kept a clean sheet against a team who put 3 past man u, 5 past arsenal, 2 against chelsea, 3 against fulham etc.

The win would have done the lads a world of good in terms of confidence, and it was the 1st time in a while that I heard the crowd enjoying themsleves. if the crowd can get behind the team now in the home games, it will make a world of difference.

I wonder if we did say beat Utd this weekend by 1 goal to 0 but missed a penalty/open goal would fans still moan on that we didnt win by more?

I do wonder sometimes? I really do.

I'm not sure it was "cracks papered over" - I think the lads were understandably nervous - it's very easy for us on the terraces saying "Why aren't they pushing to score" which we all wanted, but they were defending well and got the goals they needed - we all thought "had reading scored they might have got something" but they really didn;t look that likely - 1 very good save from Mig and a simple one from a free-kick.

I think the lads did well - hopefully can push on - we expect nothing this week so anything will be a bonus. Spurs and Soton are 2 games we should be looking to take full points from - we seem to be scoring much better now (10 in the last 6 and only failed to score in Harry's first game in charge)

Which team in the PL plays 4-4-2? Its suicide nowadays to play that way as you will be overrun in midfield. Its easy to sit here and say play this formation, play 3 at the back (yes I have seen this written) but when it goes tits up we dont have to deal with it, I trust MON with the 4-5-1 formation and it will work but when we are chasing games we do often go to a 4-4-2 when Saha or Wickham comes on but to start with it is suicide in the Premier League these days.

With a better central midfielder the 4-5-1 will work so much better. How anyone can be disappointed when they saw the team sheet last night is beyond me. Our top goal scorer was back from injury when he was expected to miss out and still people are disappointed, yes Wickham has done well in the last 2 games but has he scored or created? Sess & Fletcher upfront for me everyday of the year.

Danny - we saw how well Wickham played and I think we wanted him to play - I was happy Fletcher was back but disappointed Wickham didn;t get a game - Jack COlback in Centre Mid as well didn;t exactly look great and this was the reason we were all disappointed - not because Fletcher was back!

it was seeing Colback and Larsson in the middle and John Oshea still being picked ahead of Bramble that disappointed me. I think Bramble showed in.a little cameo that he is better in every way than Oshea he just didnt get carried by Man Utd.

O'shea was absolutely brilliant last night! you most certainly were not at the game mate, nothing got past him all night and dealt with every ball in the box, great captains performance.

Agree that O'Shea was good defensively but his distribution out of defence is terrible, he never finds a teamate with a pass.

So we're QPR but the difference is we put them away this time. Maybe that is showing signs of improvement?

Howay man, you have to be pleased? 3-0 in the PL is always a good result regardless of the oppo. They were **** but you still have to do your job. And give some credit to O'Neill, he clearly had them keyed up for a quick start which maybe led to them being so bad. Broke them before they got started.

That said you are 64, will have seen plenty of ****e following good and more than anything have the right to be a grumpy old man.
