Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio: "At this moment we do not have the weapons to damage the opponents. My players kept their discipline in the game, tried to give everything but it was enough to get the point.

"Again Gareth Bale made the difference.

"I am going to sit at the table with the chairman. Obviously if we want to have a different future we need to bring in good players but with a professionalism."

On reports that Phil Bardsley - who was not in the squad today - was axed after going to a casino.

"They can't stay with me people who behave like that. In that way it is too easy to push those people out.

"Talking about strict rules. It was disgusting. These people can't train with me.

"If people don't care about the reaction of the family at 30 years of age, it is difficult to change. We have to be careful in the future."

Apparently he has been interviewed for 20 mins non stop and has all but ended the careers of a few players in one fell swoop. I hope he can carry this discipline thing off for the next season but he is going to upset as many as he inspires? Its a balancing act to manage these players and inspire them.

Personally I'm not fussed about anyone leaving for the right money and starting again. Keep Mig and Fletcher and build again from the others.

For any club at the level we are at, if PDC pisses players off then we will be all the better for it. Its only really the top top teams that can afford to carry the prima ballerinas. As these are the players that can win games on their own time and time again.

PDC has slaughtered discipline at #safc. Says he's fined 7 players this week, and none will be at club next season

from a chronicle reporter on twitter?

Think he is more than pissed off lads. Would not like to be any of them right now and I will guarantee you now, none of them will go on to achieve diddly squat anywhere else. All will move down the ladder not up it.

Any player in our squad that's pi$$ed of with his mentality can do one. We've been a soft touch for years . Throughout the club we are massive. We must be one of the most underachieving clubs in the country!

They can all **** off, and anyone that he brings in will be aware of Paolo's expectations and beliefs.

He has my trillion % backing on all of this.

I'm backing Paolo all the way on his management style. We only want players that want to actually bust a gut for the club like Mig and Jack Colback did today, not players who are only here to pick up a wage or move to the club to be near family and former drinking pals.

I for one would be quite happy if he started again and rebuilt the squad including the 5-6 current players who are actually worth keeping.

Just saw part of the interview and he was livid... He nearly slammed the table with the mic's on.

He is setting very high standard which I'm liking, total professionalism. These standard will take our club to the next level. He warmed them, they tested him and he's acting.

    I PDC I trust...

If the players don't like the way he does things then **** them they can try and do their own thing at another club, thing is though who would take the vast majority of them?
The whole squad is **** and bar maybe 3/4 good players and about the same amount of half decent players the rest are also rans, the time for pussy footing about is gone if we are to become an established top half club. As for the Bardo thing think that was down to his footballers brain more than anything else lads or should I say the lack of it, he will struggle to find another club at PL level if this does come off.

Good, shows why we have been in the **** for so long, players thinking they can do whatever they want and still get a kings ransom every week.

I don't care who goes, we can always bring better quality in. For once we have a manager with the same attitude and values as the fans.

Im all for discipline but there is a line and if he crosses it he'll completely lose the dressing room and they'll hang him out to dry. Think similar happened to Mancini

Short needs to back Di Canio 100% in getting the club rid of these players and have the club ran how he wants because if he doesn't he will walk

Short will do this I think but with us after 12-13players Short needs to be willing to splash the cash, its seems like we will be after a few few transfers and there is a few good players entering the last year of ther contracts but upto 50m could be what is needed
