Against the mags. According to SA.

Also reckons the giant gk could be worth a dozen points a season.

    Anyone agree?

He has had an iffy up and down season so far and has probably cost us rather than gain points so far. However, he made a cracking save against the Mags and after that his confidence seemed to grow and his handling and catching were excellent in the 2nd half.

How do you rate him compared to others?

Lets start with Sorenson. Gordon. Mig.

Also Westwood (vastly under rated imo).

Also will Mannone ever regain the spot now Pickford is on the way up?

Think any decent keeper is going to be worth at least a dozen points.
It's only a goal bound shot that he has to save to be potentially worth points.
Didn't see the match as I was at ****in legoland <steam>

Probably too early to judge him against the above at this present time. This season is a massive one for him in my opinion where at the end of it I hope I will be able to give a better comparison of where he stands.

Agreed. At least a dozen points. I think we've got a great goalie, I'm very happy with him.

I just hope you posting this just a few hours brfore the game doesn't jinx him <whistle>

With Pantillimon in goal I feel a lot more relaxed when we're defending set pieces, not that we never concede from them but having the biggest player on the pitch has helped us there. He's a very good shot stopper too although every keeper in the league is and he's also good and vocal which I always like in a keeper.

His distribution isn't good and his handling is suspect. I don't think his recent errors have been confidence based just that he's made some daft mistakes but that can happen to anyone I suppose.

Overall, I like him. I think everything that Allardyce has been saying recently is on the money, he knows what to say to get the best out of them I reckon.

He's made the 2nd highest number of saves this season, just behind Jack Butland.
I think he is a quality keeper and I like the way big Sam is bigging him up

Butland is playing behind a tough & settled defence who do a good job of dealing with balls into the box etc.
He generally has direct efforts to deal with which is his speciality ... I don't think he's as good at dealing with crosses etc.

Pants has had Brown, Vergini, Coates, Kaboul, O'Shea at various times which hasn't been easy.

i rate him. The lad sat behind me blasted me for saying he's better than Mannone! I watched Mannone against city and Exeter in the cup and though I'd have done better! His form has been iffy and it's a confidence thing. He should've caught the ball against West Ham which they scored from and in the first half against the mags he was shaky as ****. As reg says, that save from Mitrovic seemed to give him confidence. Hopefully that flows into today's game

I loved mannone in that season. Pants height means he pulls of saves mannone could never get even though mannone can get down quicker. It generally means pants is the safer of the two. Mannone is prone to howlers every now and then. But has better distribution. Both have done remarkably well considering the rubbish in front of them. I am not one to be overly critical of keepers in those conditions especially since p e mistake usually means a goal. Westwood was also good. We don't do too badly really in this area.

I honestly think Pants is the best keeper we have had in the past 10 years easily. I'd trust him over all the others.

He's a very good keeper. Shame whenever he collects it almost guarantees we concede possession. He's in his second and i've seen no improvement in his distribution what so ever. It's a huge flaw imo.

I agree as I do with most of posts on this thread only think his distribution and lack of a real dominating physical prescene -not stature- is a big negative imo prefer Mannone - but if he performs in goal as should - sorted for me & BSA knows quality - sticky toffee pudding now

Looks like we've eaten too much sticky toffee pud - - certainly not clinical -as always - only luck of a team with no luck - BSA needs to act now before Southampton game - very dodgy against them esp at SOL in fact we are against most - dark ones excluded

We had more shots and more shots on target than Everton (they had 7 on target) so we must've won did we?

Realistic rant over - things only get better now - we drop like a stone match after a darksided win - onwards & upwards
