...Would that then make some Liverpool fans happy, after yesterday's FRIENDLY against Hull. Why highlight "friendly" because that's what it was. Kenny has bought players in to fit a clear plan. These players, play in key positions are still finding there feet and need sometime to bed into the team, and the style of play Kenny's looking to create. Kenny is also looking at fringe players to see who's got the hunger, desire and ability to push for a regular first team spot. We have also to welcome back at some stage Gerrard, Lucas, Suraez and Johnson to the team, now those 4 are key elements of Kenny's team. Yes it wasn't pretty, but Stoke lost to Aldershot does that mean Pullis should be sacked? Its a long, hard season ahead. The club this time last year was a million miles from where it is now, and this time next year we'll be further ahead than today. But to criticise at the drop of a hat, to moan at every opportunity and generally to not look at the bigger picture is just pathetic. Me, I don't care about friendly's all there do is serve to sharpen match fitness. Come August the 14th is all that matters at the minute. And losing to Hull is no big deal.
This has been done to death. You know very well what other people were saying, so stop over exaggerating.
The only point being made yesterday was that there are far too many squad players that need to move on. I don't think that anyone is really bothered by yesterdays result. Kenny wasn't to happy either. "If they're going to stake a claim for a first-team place, they've got to earn it. We've given them every opportunity to get themselves fit and try and earn that right to play in the first team, but they'll need to do better than that if they want it."
luvgonzo, we all know which players need moving on. But there sat on big fat contracts, and will gather splinters rather than take a pay cut in the main. kenny is trying to sort the problems created over the last 4 years, that'll take time. I'd rather take small steps forward and get it right, than run like a headless chicken into a wall.
It's just frustrating but I really don't think anyone is overreacting. Transfer listing some of these players would be good but no one ever gets transfer listed anymore.
Buy everyone in the world except Argies and Brazilians. Where were they in the Copa America? In a group with bleeding Paraguay. And who got to the final? That's right, not Messi and not Neymar.
Its not fair to lament all our concerns with this over-exaggerated article. Ze Liverbird was right about our team, we are lacking in areas and as luvgonzo said, we still need to get rid of players. This article shows both arrogance and how naive you are, you think after a 'friendly' people are claiming we can't get in the top four? No. We're saying we don't want to fall behind in February/March time when injuries occur and we lack the cutting edge that we had in certain players. Give each other a break and relax. Once some players are moved on I'm sure KK will give an uplifting talk to the squad without the likes of Jovanovic disrupting the squad in his 'naughty corner'.
ok the result was shocking even for a friendly and will get Kenny's alarm bell ringing. these players had better step up a gear or they will get shipped out....was it a bad day at the office or are there some concern that needs attention...
Don't have a problem with your overall sentiment, however, I really do have a problem and I am sure the squad have the same problem with what I have quoted. If this plan is so clear, would you please explain it to me and the thousands of others who are all still in discussion about what formation liverpool will play once the season starts.
Kenny played 3-5-2 when he came back. But he also used 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1. That's a lot of versatility. So my guess is there won't be a 'formation'. But expect a few midfielders passing a lot.
