Up until last Saturday the feeling was that palace had had an awful start to the season. victory at the valley would put them above us....so if the worst case scenario happens and we lose what kind of start do we think we would of had ? Hypothetical yes but what do you reckon.
A very indifferent one...!! I can see the Palarse game being out toughest yet. They will be a far better team after the international break. The 2 week break ought to afford their new signings a bit of much needed bedding in time. My neighbour is a Palarse fan so, if we loose I'm not cutting my grass until we beat them in the return fixture....!!
First time Lenny will return as Palarse's Ass Manager... be interesting to see what sort of reception he gets? ...... Any team but Palarse and it would be good......BUT PALARSE !!!!!!
Key game for me. The first one this season where we can reasonably expect to be at least on a par with the opposition. However we need to get ourselves sorted after Forest. In particular CP need to get Stephens' head out of his arse and get some width into the team. My jury is out at the moment. I'm hopeful, but by no means certain of how good we are in relative terms yet.
We know our teams battling qualities. They won't lose a local derby, really can't see it. I think BWP and Kermo are going to run riot.
Tables can change quickly at the beginning of the season when the teams are all bunched together, so if Palace beat us on our own ground then oh dear I don't like to think of the mood. It will be quite tempting with the intense atmosphere for the players to resort to long-ball and so I'd like to see Green given the nod, since he provides an alternative outlet and is comfortable on the ball. Mind you there has to be a Plan-B for if he is in one of his non-productive days.
Still early days whichever way the result goes. BWP and Kermo to start. I hope green is recalled, as already stated he gives a different option. Hope this isn't the game that kick starts the doom spellers if we don't get all 3. The team has had it all good for over a year and I much prefer a happy valley.
Since my original posting I've been thinking about this game and all things being equal our team squad is better than there's though less experienced at this level. We detest them far more than they do us so hopefully this is transferred to our players. As for Lennie I idolised that bloke during his tenure at the club and afterwards and no one can take away What he did for our club BUT him being a palace man now is just too much for me soooo if he's introduced over the tangy it'll be a BOOOOO from me
They are the first team we will face that won't be there or there abouts at the end of the season. Maybe Powell will put out a more attacking team. Be that with green or someone else. Hope we stuff them!
Greetings, LIE - your reasoning for that would be interesting to hear - agreed, it was a poor performance at Forest but I can't see us losing this one.
Hi TA, just a hunch, think their confidence will be up and maybe yours has taken a knock. If you'd played them a couple of weeks ago no doubt you'd have hammered them. I'm useless at predictions though, so it means nothing! Good luck for the season
Yes, valid point and it's going to be interesting to see whether Stevens' head's in the right place when he starts playing again or whether it's planted in the middle of Villa Park.
Nahh, from what I saw of you lot down at the Valley, your players look ready for this Season. I can't see you losing to Palace unless of course you're on a bad day. Palace are **** on a good day IMO and I'd have money on Charlton winning 2 - 0.
If we play like we did, the first half against Leicester City, we'll run rampant over Palarse. They had mediocre game against a team who's big headed-ness and arrogance got the better of them. Agreed 2-0 or 3-0 to us. Be the first local London derby for them (most of us don't care about Orient), and I think it's ingrained into their minds that this is one game they're not allowed to lose or play crap in.
