Rate the lad highly, maybe more so than Delaney. Made a couple of mistakes last season (as did most players) but he's young reads the game better than Delaney and with (slightly) better distribution. I'd have him first choice next to Ivar this season.

Would rather keep him, especially given the poor offer on the table at the moment.

Tommy Smith better than Delaney? Bizarre....

He's okay but he's not going to be a world beater. Young Championship level defender who needs to develop his game.

He was shocking for Col Who? when on loan last season, he needs to learn his game. Don't sell as he's got promise and we've got 3 centrebacks

I would say some of the time the problem with smith would be the lack of communication from his older team mate, having somebody like ingirmarsson beside him would do him the world of good. He is worth more to us than the £300,000 would be.

£300,000 for Smith !?? Take the money and run.

An alright player, however in my eyes doesn't stand out. Alright at most things at the back, not superb at any. Made 3 mistakes ( thats right, 3 ) for Colchester in one game recently that led to goals !

Not particularly a great fan at all - if true, cash in.

I don't really rate him, if I'm honest. £300k seems a little low, but if they upped it to £500k then I'd be letting Tommy make up his own mind. £750k and I'd drive him there myself!

Agree. I think Delaney although a decent blocker and good recovery, decent header of the ball, is awful positionally and is a very poor reader of the game, McAuley got him out of trouble so many times last season. I think although Smith does not seem the kind of player who you think he's going to be great, he seems solid and generally bar a couple of mistakes seems to be pretty sound positionally and has a decent reading of the game. I would definately have him in the team ahead of Delaney.
