I have a sneaky suspicion that Kasami is about to be welcomed back. please log in to view this image After his transfer to Italian club Pescari fell through in the January window, he went on loan to FC Luzern in February and has played in 11 games for them (no goals). When he joined us in 2011 in a deal that contracts him to us until summer 2015, Jol said: "Pajtim is a young, talented midfielder who has potential, so we are very excited about signing him on a four year contract. He is a versatile midfield player who can adapt quite easily to more than one position.â Then of course there was the big falling out over that penalty miss and since then he languished , not very successfully, in what Jol calls the âreserve sideâ before his loan. One thing I liked about Pajtim was the way he was prepared to run at defences. Often itâs got to be said without any real end product but surely with game time and education off the field that would have improved, as it has with Dejagah. Heâs also got defensive strengths, as proved for the Swiss U21 team which he has continued to play for. I for one would welcome him back into the fold if, and it it may be a big if, he gets a decent chance this time around.
Another of our young players who didn't make it, Lauri Dalla Valle who went off to Molde this year. Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Molde, after winning the title last season, are bottom with just five points from eight games. They play the team directly above them, Sandnes Ulf, at 17:00 BST on Sunday. On Kasami he did show promise when I saw him in the Youth Tournament, but so did Gecov. I think both Kasami and Frei seem to suffer from trying to do too much as an individual when they got their chance rather than as a team player. I guess that is youth thinking they need to prove themselves. Kacaniklic also needs to improve his defensive qualities.
The birthday boy (he's 21 today) scored last night as Lucerne came from 3-1 down to win 4-3. http://us.soccerway.com/matches/2013/06/01/switzerland/super-league/servette-fc-geneve/fc-luzern/1293282/ I know there's baggage and attitude in abundance but surely we should at least get him back in for the pre-season matches (???) and see if he's matured enough to get something for the £3m he cost.
Watch Pajtim Kasami's goal (2 minutes in) - it's a belter:
It's a good goal, but without meaning to be harsh- if you give a guy getting paid to play football that much time you would expect him to hit the target. Still, a nice finish. Dont think we'll be seeing much of him at the Cottage though- hopefully I'm wrong because it would be great to find a new starter in the current squad.
Can you imagine the drama if we ever got a penalty with Kasami and Trotta both on the pitch? The ref would need a calendar to keep track of all the extra time to allow for the arguments.
The Italian press are today linking Patjim Kasami with a permanent move away from Fulham to Bologna. The fee discussed for the transfer is EU 2 million which would be a loss on a player where reports have suggested we originally paid anything from EU 2.5 - 4 million. If you remember Kasami nearly joined Bologna on loan in January 2013 and the deal looked to be completed until a problematic fax machine meant that his agent, Mino Raiola, couldn't get the paperwork across to beat the deadline.
