Look at Lallana's two goals against Ipswich. He'd started to make his run when the ball was put through..he looked like Linford Christie. A good footballing brain gives you a couple of yards.

Couldn't agree more Fran. Although a great footballing brain and blistering pace, a la Messi, combine for a killer combo!!
Unfortunately Messi would cost a fortune and wouldn't come to Saints in a million years. We realistically have to make compromises and is it out of the question that blistering pace could be one of them to get a superior technical player?
martin is definitely quicker than seaborne, his tackle on gradel proves that. but yeah none of them are particularly fast.
He's not, but I hate this obsession with blinding pace. You don't need it if you know how to play.
