Hello all, I thought I would push you in the direction of http://www.attheraces.com/ascot/raceindex.aspx?sub=pace+chart&hlid=396582 This is a new tool that the ATR pace expert Lawrence Taylor has put together to show how the pace may look across the draw for the weeks racing at Royal Ascot. Lawrence also puts in his views at the bottom of each graph, some interesting notes from day 1 include King's Stand - pace across track with Tangerine Trees and Holiday For Kitten getting to the front early. He suggests that it may disadvantage hold up horses. St James' Palace - Frankel and Wootton Bassett come out best on pace angle but he suggests that if Frankel goes at it from the off he will probably prove too fast for the lot of them in the early stages. Its a big IF for me. Coventry Stakes - He thinks its going to be run at a very fast pace with lots getting good pace marks (11 getting 8 on the rating) with three getting a mark of 10 (Commissar, Roman Soldier and Italo). The graph suggests those drawn high and middle could be at an advantage. I think the stands rail is the place to be. Windsor Castle - Pace all over the track is shown on the graph with some big figures drawn high. Lawrence naps Frederick Engels who he hopes will get a lead into the race. Interestingly Magic City is another that looks like the early pace could help him settle and come from behind in the final furlongs.
