There's quite a narrow field. Phillips has made more saves than any keeper in the Championship, Pratley has shown his importance, especially missed when he's not there, Taylor makes a huge difference, Matthews is propably our most improved player. But who would have thought that coming through from the back of the field with a late charge The Nabster is now a strong contender?
Tough one this season. Conor Gallagher would have walked it had he stayed. Different class footballer. I will vote for Dillon as things stand. Anyone voting for Naby Sarr isn’t doing so for footballing reasons.
I think @Miketyson2007Junior will agree with me … look at how our defence has fallen apart without his leadership.
All our defenders have made mistakes which have cost us goals, not just Naby. He's the only CB who can play the ball out, and his pass to Taylor for the goal at Forest was one of the two passes of the season, the other being Morgan's pass to Bonne. Our POTY always leaves in the summer anyway, so if Taylor scores the goals which keep us up he'll probably get it. Doughty has Young POTY sown up.
My top 3 is Dillon Prats (not Elf’s) Matthews YPOTY - Albie Morgan - sympathy vote for being shafted.
It's got to be Phillips. Other players have had good runs of games, and Lockyer has been steady enough. But Dillon Phillips has been the difference between Charlton just about out of the bottom 3, and being points adrift & already relegated.
Another award we should think about voting for is LOTY (Liar of the Year) 2014 ... Meire 2015 ... Meire 2016 ... Meire 2017 ... Meire 2018 ... Duchatelet 2019 ... De Turck 2020 ... Southall (nailed on)
I thought about COTY as well (you can guess what the C stands for) Thomas Driesen won it 6 years in a row, so he got to keep the trophy - and take some selfies with it. I know... Respect the Thread. Not sure we should bother with a POTY this season. August aside it has been very grim.
Goalies tend to get POTY after we've had a poor season, for obvious reasons. Before his injury I would have said Cullen was among the favourites, but he seems to have lost something since he came back (Gallagher?).
