After the window closed and nothing happened at Arsenal, I predicted that Ozil and/or Alexis will leave the club at the end of the season. Recent comments by Ozil's agent linking him with a summer move to Fernabache comes as no surprise to me whatsoever. Imo opinion, Ozil is not built for the EPL. I adore him as a footballer, but he lacks the drive required to succeed in this league. I would cut some losses on him. We'll be doing well to get £40M for him. I will then go in with a big bid for Philipe Coutinho. May not be as classy as Mesut, but he's got a fire in him and can carry a team on his back. He has an eye for goal. He would be world class for us. And do all I can to keep Alexis.

Firstly, if he was to leave, it would have to be a top team like Bayern and not for Fernabache. Secondly, I think he's done pretty well for us and I don't see the need to sell him, especially when Cazorla is nearing 31, Wilshere is injury prone and Ozil is in his prime and will be our main playmaker for years to come. Bearing in mind that he is still 26 and he can improve in the striking department. There is room for improvement for him.

Our main issues is in the CF and DM department, we don't need another central midfielder thank you.

I wouldn't sell Ozil, actually thought he was one of our better players in Zagreb. We should be adding better players around him and getting rid of Arteta, Flamini, Rosicky and replacing these with atleast 1 top quality defensive mid.

Exactly, this is where the problem lies for me. Ozil needs sufficient protection, which means getting a big beastly DM to protect him so he can concentrate on being creative. Coqs does some way to help this, but we need more protection. Ozil should be used minimally in defensive duties, he just isn't made for any rough stuff.

In that #10 position we need a player with more fight to him especially in this team that has a mediocre strike force and a manager who doesn't believe the defensive side of his midfield is important. Ozil is not brave enough to succeed here. You see him shirking away from 60/40 balls in his favor. Turning his back on faked shots. We need a stronger player there. I would jump at any chance to replace him with the right player (Coutinho imo.).

You really like Coutinho don't you :p Well if you want a battling ACM then why not put Sanchez there? I reckon he has the skillset to be successful there.

I actually think Ozil is better, but just doesn't suit what Wenger and Arsenal are doing. With the required protection and Strikeforce, then we have a special player in Ozil. He would've been incredible in the invincibles

This is where I agree with you. I reckon Wenger hasn't got his midfield makeup right, especially for the Premiership. In Spain, it would be good but we need more physical support in middle, which has in part helped with Coqs, but isn't enough for a long Premiership campaign.

Sanchez isn't technically good enough to do the same role. He's an amazing player but he lacks the skill set that Özil and Santi have. I love him on the wing cutting in and think it suits him best.

Özil is, imo, absolutely fine where he is. I ignore the media c*nts spouting the same repetitive b*ollocks about him being lazy and disinterested as I don't think it's true. I'm intrigued to see how things pan out if Theo gets an extended run up front as he seems to clearly love have some pace to work with.

His agent's talking about a move? Something tells me he's looking for a new contract.

If Theodore was earning more than me I'd want a new contract too dammit! Such are the perils with modern day football sadly.

    Bingo.

Some of you jump the gun way too quickly.

Could I see the likes of Sanchez and Özil leaving Arsenal if we continue to lounge in mediocrity?

    Yes.

But I doubt any of them will leave at the end of this season.

I was reading an article recently about how much he is enjoying himself at Arsenal and playing for Wenger so this would seem the total opposite of what I've been reading!

I wouldn't get rid of him, my favourite Arsenal player. Amazing player, love the way he plays football and his tricks and flicks are a beauty to watch.

Can the op give a link to this story about Ozil's agent talking him wanting to leave? Cause it sounds like pure media bs, and there is no way Ozil will want to leave in his prime to join a Turkish club.

I'd imagine ozil wanting to play for Fenebache towards the end if his career he probably supported them growing up.the only club I could see ozil possibly leaving arsenal for in his prime is bayern as I don't think he has won the bundesliga

This has all the hallmarks of an agent gunning for a new deal. Fenebache, really....

It's sad to see modern football fans that think top 4 and back-to-back FA Cups is mediocre.

Call it what it is, a disappointing lack of progress... 7 games into a season that will likely be around 50 games long. Plenty of games to go.

On Ozil, I just don't think he's what you guys need. I think I said when you signed him that as much as I hated to see you guys sign a top player, I'd rather you spent it on a number 10 when you already have Ozil than on a top defensive midfielder, or striker. I just don't think he improves your team much.
