Everybody seems to feel sorry for the Jocks losing to Oz in the last minute of the quarter finals on Sunday. Well I Fukn don't! Have it I say. 1977 Anfield.World Cup qualifier.Wales v Scotland.Joe Jordan deliberately handles the ball in the Welsh penalty box and the Jocks are awarded a penalty.Jordan kisses his hand.Jocks score.Fukn cheat. So...........the Jocks feel cheated on Sunday.Good. I Fukn hope it happens again
I've felt sorry for them as I'd forgotten about this. Thanks for the reminder, I no longer feel sorry for them
The spirit of sportsmanship is alive and well I see Some of you might be old enough to remember when there was actually some in football A lot of younger supporters will have never encountered it in their lifetime Group hug ... there, that's better. p.s. I've got nothing against the Jocks and it was heartbreaking for them but AUS did gift them three tries so they were actually lucky to be in that position at the death anyway.
The Scots won fair and square but you have to abide by the ref's decision and though it has now been proved the wrong call the Scots will have to take it on the chin and except the Aussie's got lucky. I want to see the day come that if a decision that effects the outcome of the match is proven without any shadow of a doubt wrong that the powers can reverse the outcome and the Scots would go through then as deserved.....
I was there at Anfield that night! I said something similar to someone on Monday, in that it couldn't happen to nicer people..... When I mentioned Anfield they understood completely!
Jordan cheated,Scotland won, that's inescapable, and the Scottish fans' were ecstatic about it. Maradona did something similar in an Argentina World Cup win over England. Henry against The Irish, remember that one? Would Welsh fans' have complained had their team benefited in a similar way? What a silly question. Of course they wouldn't. Sadly, football is riddled with poor/bad sportsmanship,on and off the field. This forum reverberates with it. Most fans' don't care how their team wins,as long as it wins. Winning with style is not a prerequisite these days,if it ever was. They care not how the victory is/was achieved, since winning is all that matters. Well, isn't it? Not in my household. When my son started playing football at age 9,I had a long talk with him, regarding sportsmanship, etc. He clearly listened, and did himself proud, with impeccable behaviour, both on,and off,the field. Sadly, sportsmanship is a luxury the vast majority of fans' can,and do, live without.
