Blackpool FC Chairman Karl Oyston has been charged by The FA in relation to comments made in a text message exchange.

It is alleged that the misconduct constituted five breaches of FA rules, and that during the text message exchange, Mr Oyston used abusive and/or insulting words towards a supporter of Blackpool FC.

It is further alleged that each of these five breaches of FA Rule E3(1) is an ‘Aggravated Breach’ as defined in Rule E3(2), as each included a reference to disability.

Mr Oyston has until 6pm on 30 March 2015 to respond to the charge.

Quite right that he's been charged, he should also have been charged with threatening fans with spurious court action.

Blackpool chairman to get six-week FA ban over texts

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston will be banned from all footballing activity for six weeks for sending abusive texts to a fan, reports BBC Radio Lancashire.

However, it is understood the Football Association has decided his punishment will not start for another four weeks.

The 47-year-old was charged with misconduct by the FA in March for allegedly referring to Stephen Smith as a “retard” when the fan criticised him.

Oyston admitted five charges of breaking FA Rule E3 last Thursday.

The FA is yet to confirm Oyston’s punishment but an announcement is expected later on Wednesday.

He has previously admitted sending the “unacceptable” texts in response to “a barrage of abuse” he received after his phone number was put on social media.

Oyston has also apologised “unreservedly” for the messages, which were sent in December.

During the text exchange, he is said to have used a number of swear words and also allegedly called Smith “educationally subnormal” and a “sad act”.

It is also claimed he told Smith to “enjoy the rest of your special needs day out”.

In April, Championship side Blackpool became the first team from any of the top four divisions to be relegated.

The next day, Blackpool fans threw fireworks and eggs before their 1-1 draw against Reading in a protest against the club’s owners.

Ridiculous. Look at the way Blackpool fans have treated him, putting his phone number on social media, sending him constant abuse etc. anybody is bound to be pushed over the edge at that.

What about all the ****ers that did things to him? That **** got sued and got people to pay his ****ing bill, the twats who ran on the pitch and threw eggs and fireworks at him should be arrested, fined and given FBO's.

    This whole situation is pathetic.

How exactly is such a ban enforced? It doesn't seem much of a punishment for Oyston. More the FA being seen to be doing something.

And what exactly does Oyston get out of the whole sorry situation. Money? They already pocketed £11 million from the premier league season.

Is all the hatred and hassle really worth it. Is that his priority in life.

Or perhaps he's just a sick and twisted individual that gets a kick from it all. Just like his father got a kick from rape.

Of course I'm just speculating here. He could be a top bloke...

I actually agree. Oyston is clearly a turd but this incident worked both ways. What's happened to all those who gave him the abuse?

Am I going to be punished now for calling him a turd? Cos by rights I should be.

Is this something to do with 'defamation' or is your 'spell check' not working?

I know Oysten brought that action against them, I meant what has the FA done? They punished Oyston so what are they doing to punish them?

I just want to make it clear I'm not pro Oyston here, I'm saying you cant punish one side only when the other has essentially done the same thing.

The FA can't give out banning orders either.

    Or parking tickets.

Both sides have acted like cretins, both sides are ****ing morons, both sides deserve punishment. They should just kick the club out the football league and be done with it.
