Dave Kitson, 33, has called the performance of the referee in Saturday's 1-0 loss to Bristol Rovers - Mark Brown, as "horrific" and "horrendous" and the worst referee he has come across in his 13 years as a professional footballer. Brown awarded Rovers a penalty as they beat Oxford while winger Alfie Potter also suffered a serious ankle injury in the game. Kitson said: "He was horrific, horrendous, possibly worst referee I have ever had in my career. We have an incident where Alfie Potter is lying on the floor with his leg in a brace and he's asking the referee about the challenge and the referee is swearing at him, telling him to shut up and warning him he will send him off if he doesn't. The lad is lying there with tears in his eyes with his leg in a brace and he cannot even talk to the referee. He is probably the most arrogant man I have ever come across on the pitch in my life. We'd like some decisions from referees. The foul for the penalty was two yards out the box. The referee never communicated with the linesman. I've never seen anything like it in my life, I just don't know why I bother." In response, the body that represents referees - Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) - declined to comment, adding Kitson's comments were now being investigated by the Football Association. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24805861
suppose this is the typical response from a player who is top of the league who lost to a team who is struggling at the bottom end.
Remember that story few years back a few city fans saw him at a petrol station on his way to AG Glad he didn't join us, apparently has stinking attitude and is on 25k a week, and reading the article he still seems a prat
Don't know, he's only said the penalty was outside the box and the ref didn't consult with the linesman. He's mainly focused on the incident at the ref really for the player who had his leg in a brace. Got to be honest with him, if I've noticed the drop in standards of refs from Championship to league one I pity you lot in league two they must be ****ing awful. If I've read it wrong my apologies
Presumably Kitson's team lost the match!! Having just looked at the highlights, their defender got his measurements wrong and his professional foul for the penalty was inside the box. Can someone afford to give Kitson a ruler. Two yards outside FFS!!!
Kitson is known for his petulant attitude. That's why Tony Pulis got rid of him at Stoke. Very strong words though.
Aaarrrgh! Why didn't you put a warning up when you posted that link - my eyes, my eyes - I think I've gone blind!
