V V Saturday 01st Feb 2025 12:30pm kick off Liam Manning goes back to his old stomping ground with Bristol City wanting to take 3 points in their quest for a play-off spot. Everybody is wondering with us three points of a playoff spot and desperately needing reinforcements in the striking department. The Lansdown family having had their hands forced - will they show ambition and get a striker or two in or will they show a lack of ambition and say we are quiet happy as a mid table championship side. Personally this is going to show the fan base where the current owners are with Bristol City FC in the portfolio. If we stick and nothing happens in the transfer market then it clearly shows the fans where the football club sits under the Lansdown's. Bristol City again backed by another sold out away end at Oxford -results wise i am going to say we should win this and if we are serious of getting into the top six 3 points must be brought back to Ashton Gate.
4 results we need today /weekend wins for Plymouth City Sunderland and a draw or win for PNE! PLUS A BREATHIN SPACE ........... all of above and draw for Norwich and wins for, or draws Luton MILLWALL SWANSEA ..............
I hope Liam doesn't get a wake up call at Oxford this weekend as I'm sure they will be up for a beating of their former manager. Our inability to see off teams,no matter what their current status is, has to be a problem and this fixture will be no easy roll over so every player has to be on their best game otherwise the questions will gather over our lack of everything football.
Tbf we have done better against lesser opposition lately, it’s why we find ourselves within 3 points of the playoffs. Having said that our away form has been pretty dire, hopefully that will change tomorrow.
Our home form's been good but lost at Pompey and Coventry and scraped a draw at Plymouth recently. We're 5/4 favourite tomorrow.......can't see it myself.
If we are serious of a playoff push we should beating Oxford tomorrow. Every Tom Dick and Harry is bringing players in unlike Bristol City who are quite happy with their powder puff strike force.
If we go into it with the wrong mental approach we could be on the end of another beating like we got at Blackburn, Derby, Portsmouth etc I think it will be a draw
Happy to a shake up in the midfield tbh. Let’s see if this midfield can actually create chances for our forwards, rather than just pass left and right across the D with no idea how to make an incisive pass
Well, I thought it would be McCrorie after his early booking but ffs what was going through Williams mind. Bloody ridiculous !
Yes Williams was an idiot but he won the ball with his left foot and caught the Oxford lad with his trailing leg, Yellow in my book
Frank, I agree. But I learned a long time ago.......you don't give a referee a decision to make. Williams deserves a pineapple.
The refereeing decisions today are very poor and inconsistent to say the least but the worst decision was by Williams who went looking for retribution and paid the cost. The earlier tackle on Joe was bad and a borderline red as well but any player that does what he did to get back at an opposition player deserves exactly what he got. The refs know Joe for his very questionable tackling and at times he is a definite poor tackler and that is all very well and good as long as it is controlled and Joe often treads over the line of acceptability and today he could have cost us valuable points. Refereeing is all about making the right decisions consistently and this bloke is way off key and so we have to pick ourselves up and face the inevitable music for another forty five minutes. All around our play looks to be lacking any punch but that's nothing unusual.
