"We had a great response and the results look interesting so far…here’s a sneak peek at some early analyses:

    · The majority of fans believe that their club name is more important than their strip, emblem, any chants or even grounds

    · Manchester United fans reported the highest number of sacred or special values about their team

    · Crystal Palace fans were most likely to report that their fellow fans were like family

    · Crystal Palace, Sunderland, Norwich City and Hull fans reported being the most bonded to their clubs (and Liverpool fans the least)

    · Most fans report a lifelong connection with their club – supporting their teams for 21 years or more

    · 92% of fans reported first sharing a passion for their club with either their friends or family – the other 8% got involved with their club independently

This study is part of a bigger, three year project that investigates football fandom at national and international level in the UK, Brazil, and Spain. We’re grateful to have had your input!"
