Should we get past Oxford United tomorrow night, we are ‘rewarded’ with a 4th round trip to The Etihad against Man City. Fabulous totally what we needed. That’s totally deflated me and now I don’t really care what the result is tomorrow.
Arteta’s said this several times already this month. If we genuinely are stupid enough to not sign a single player this month, the blame should go on Edu and co. Arteta clearly is pushing for signings.
Elneny - Lokonga and Viera are looking soo uninspiring. Risky of Arteta to start Saka, Nketiah and Martinelli.
They’ve been awful. Timid, passive, no desire and no willingness to do the dirty work. Honestly, if the club hierarchy are watching this and think our second string players are anywhere remotely close to the required level, God help us.
If we seriously have to bring on the likes of Partey and Xhaka against a ****ing mid table league one team, I truly ****ing despair.
I’ve tried to be as patient as I can with Lokonga but he provides absolutely nothing and is a total passenger. Every single time he sets foot on the pitch, he never does enough to warrant any minutes. If you can’t stand out against a team two divisions below you, when will you ever stand out?
HT. 0-0. ****ing embarrassing. Fair play to Oxford for their energy and ability to disrupt our rhythm, but these players have offered nothing to combat their tenacity. No point being technically gifted if you can’t match the opponent in heart and fight. None of our midfielders look like they want to dig deep.
I know this isn’t the reason for our **** performance, but David Coote is one of the worst referees on the entire planet.
Lokonga taken off for Xhaka. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the last time we see Lokonga in an Arsenal shirt again. Just not at the right level and don’t think he ever will be.
2-0. Nketiah. Good interception by Xhaka, quick pass by Elneny and a lovely reverse ball by Fabio Vieira to Nketiah who rounds the goalkeeper and taps it into the empty net.
I know Fabio Vieira needs to improve his physicality and strength, but his final ball is usually exquisite. Two assists.
3-0. Eddie again. Good hold up play from Nketiah, who plays it into Martinelli, and Martinelli plays a slide rule pass to Nketiah who delightfully dinks it over the onrushing goalkeeper. Scoreline flatters us massively I have to admit, but I’m not complaining.
