Come and go and we spend endless hours on forums like this debating, getting annoyed, falling out and getting hot under the collar about them all. Then, in the end, they all go the same way, out of the door, some to better things, some to what they hope will be better things and some to punditry on Sky, BBC or ITV. One or two sink to Channel 5 or ESPN and one or two, Ball, Bennett, Rowel and the like stay near and become like us, fans. In the end all that is left are the daft buggers like us, the fans and whatever we say or do, on match day we become one in the hope that this time will be our time. We talk about rivalries but in the end we are all in the same boat, all left to laugh or cry at the actions of others who at times dont seem to care that much for us, they say the words but in the end most, no not all but most, will move on if the price is right. With a new season round the corner its time again to look ahead with hope and confidence but by god it can be hard at times.
Twas ever thus Syd. From my early times I remember a older guy (Belgian left over from the war) getting on the bus threatening to go there no more. He was back the next game like the rest of us. My biggest regret is seeing the size of today's players wage packets and the protection clauses in their contracts that guarantees them so much. Consign the word loyalty to the history books.
