Been a wild day. Tom Werner has said that Dalglish has the owners backing. Interviewer: Does Damien Comolli's departure have any impact upon Kenny Dalglish's position as manager? Werner: Absolutely not. We've got great confidence in Kenny. We feel the team is going to make strides in the future and he enjoys our full support. And as for Iam Ayre Interviewer: Do you envisage any other changes in the senior management of the club? Werner: We do not. It's a good question. We believe the senior management is very strong, Ian Ayre is an outstanding managing director. His charge is to raise revenue so that we can put the resources into strengthening our football club. We've got great confidence in the other people in football operations, and so the answer is there will be no future changes of significance. Says enough for me. Sounds positive to. I can see big investment happening this summer.
Just watched the interview, I'm glad some things are being done and I'm glad to see confidence instilled with Kenny. We need this, especially before Saturday.
The greatest mistake is to undermine the manager close to FA cup semi-final.They did the right thing.
You have had big investment in recent years. Huge investment. It has been an almighty fail. Also what on earth is Dalglish doing admitting that the signings were his fault? Talk about making things worse for yourself.
I think they will stick with Kenny. He needs to be given more time, it took bacon face 5 years to win a trophy at United so Kenny has been there 18 months and already has one possibly two.
Yah, enormous. Oh wait 35mill net since FSG took over They must be crying about the loss, especially when their new Warrior sport kit deal only covers 25mill of that!
Lol you got incredibly lucky that you got money for Torres as hes shown his real value is closer to 5p than 50million. You have still spent big money on players and have moved down the league. Kenny has said he is responsible for these awful signings and therefore Kenny is to blame. Looking at your recent signing, I would think investment of at least 4billion dollars is needed to make the top 6 again. I mean 120million sent you backwards afterwall. On a serious note, would you trust kennys judgement on his signings just now. Is it safe to give him another 100million in the summer?
Of course we got lucky with Torres, but that doesn't hide the fact that we've only made a transfer loss of 35mill (coincidently the same cost as Carroll :O)since they took over. Never mind the savings on the wage bill combined with the bigger sponsorship deals. Moneywise, we've not "invested" heavily and we're more than comfortable. It's probably not safe to give him 100mill this summer, but luckily they've not given him that in the past either. If he wins the FA cup, he'll probably get another 30-40mill or so + whatever he recoups from sales. I think it's fair. But can you please stop with trying to make us out to be another money club like Chelsea/City? We're nothing close to them. The numbers prove this.
Im not making you out to be a money club. I think the owners tried to give that impression at first with the big signing ( obviously recouped ) but you are like Chelsea and City in terms of you have paid well over the odds. Upto 80% more that the value of the actual player on several occasions. I think he may get £70+ million as I suspect sales are on the cards. 30-40 from the owners and another 30 or so from sales.
Is he your prime target. Taking Carroll into account then maybe he will need £80million. Joking aside I would think an amount has been set aside for each season and any money made from sales is added to that amount. I think you will sell, tbh you have to sell imo and you will have £70ish million available. Whether its all spent or not is down to the manager and the backroom staff.
Whats wrong with taking responsibility, rather than shifting the blame? If he had come out and lied, surely that's worse? From an outside view it's good to see he's being honest.
In the interview with Werner, he stated that we have already set our targets on who we want to buy. I'm sure they have come up with a budget for maximum valuation of the players and alternative options if it doesn't work out. I presume they have priorities to go out and buy without considering income from outgoing players, whilst other targets will be per-sued based on income or holes from sales.
I don't know the full scenario, although I agree with you there. He might of been asked outright? like I say I don't know so can't really make an assumption. But I think taking responsibility is refreshing to see in such a back stabbing arena as football.
Cant believe Dogleash has owned up to requesting the average players that Comolli subsequently went out and paid 3 times their value for. Doesnt say much for Klu Klux Ken`s eye for a player, if I was Kenny I`d have been passing all the blame onto Comolli.
