I still think that Michael Owen is easily the best sub any team can have, i would rather have Owen in the box than Torres, his second goal was sublime, i think he should play every match the Carling Cup and some PL games as his goal ratio between games is superb, i think theres better players in the team that deserve the number 7 shirt but a great player to have all the same, whats every1s thoughts on Owen?

The second goal especially was a great strike. So long as he is fit he should feature in the League cup matches, FA cup matches and some League games most surely.

Super sub I reckon. I wouldn't want to count on putting him up against top class defences that will mark him out of the game and leave him knackered by 60 mins if he comes on at the start. But if we need a goal with 15 minutes left I'd be happy to see Owen coming off the bench to run at tired defences.

He played very well last night. Like Constcrepe has mentioned,Owen should take part in the league cup, fa cup and hope Fergie gives him a chance to prove himself to the team.

There's no doubt that he has the ability to score goals. Whether or not he can still unlock defences at the highest level is somewhat doubtful. But he isn't just a finisher anymore. His time at United, to me anyway, he has looked accomplished on the ball (a lot more than Hernandez), willing to play out wide or in the centre with the ball at his feet and willing to take players on. I didn't know he had that side of his game, could be that it has only really developed at United but it adds something different. Lest we forget he is only 31, not much older than Dimi as well.
