After reading the debate over whether the was money or there wasn't money, or who to believe or who not to believe. I personally feel that OLM and PT are probably right and that AP, Nick and the Allams don't get on and there sacking was something to do with this. However the fact remains, even if they where sacked for that and there wasn't money to spend, Nick Barmby is employed by the Allams and as an employee why does he have the right to demand money? As a club we are losing money, what right does he have to demand transfer fee's and wages? We already have an extremely high wage bill, even excluding the wages of Macca, Oli and Ghilas i would say our wage bill is in the top six, and definately within the top ten. So when you look at it like that the Allams are already sanctioning far more than should be under the FPP rules. So as an employee surely it is Nick's job to do what the Allams wishes are? So if they can't afford or won't put anymore money in for transfer fee's why should Nick demand they do? Secondly, for the arguement that the Allams are in it for the money? How could they make money from the ground? How would they develop it for property? The same council that sells the KC to the Allams, are the same one that decides whether they get planning permission or not. I just don't get this anti-Allam brigade. I understand fully that AP and Nick have not being treat properly, but then again surely the Allams feel they are being undermined by their employees? I thank Nick and especially AP for everything they have done, as i feel what AP has done over the years is extraordinary, however the Allams are fully within their right to do what they have, surely? Or am i overlooking something?
The reason he had a right to expect money is because he was promised it when taking the job. Also he never did demand it, he took it on the chin for 4 months and pretended he didn't want players but eventually got fed up it and simply stated we need some players in the summer. That's isn't even a surprising thing to hear, every club brings players in during the summer. Personally I was never against the Allams regarding the stadium or any of that crap - I was completely for them getting the stadium, but I'm not sure where I stand on that now because frankly I don't know what to believe from them after today's comments. It's only the last few days that have really made me turn against them.
I agree with most of this, I think the thing that will piss the Allam's off the most is that Barmby was demanding money he previously refused, all whilst the Allam's were paying for people like Garcia and Simpson to sit in the stands. Nick had the squad depth but chose not to use it, just like he had the money but chose not to use it. The only reason I can think of that AP and NB refused the money is that AP had somewhat backed himself into a corner with his reckless comments about the previous regime, how could he chase one player on £45k a week out the club and then sign another one a few months later? It's one of the reasons I'm glad he's gone and we're getting a fresh start on that side of things. The only part of your post I disagree with is that AP has not been treat properly, the guy had a task and failed it. My only regret is that we didn't make the **** train with the kids for a few weeks first. I've no sympathy whatsoever for the **** and I'm glad we'll finally see the back of him.
And from the moment poor Adam was involved in a minor incident over a biro, the writing was on the wall. Now what else is he gonna do on a satday? Watch Huddersfield town? watch a bit of eggchasing? buy a few official club ties and watch football from the boardroom a la Duffbudgie? TIME WILL TELL.
Thing is do you know why Nick was sacked 100%? None of us do and ever will we can only make assumptions on what is heard. Whether he was or wasn't promised money is not an issue for me, the point is at some point the Allams decided not to fund his signings which was completely within their right, they are his employers, if he is unhappy with this feel free to seek employment elsewhere. The stadium is key, as under FPP rules the income from the stadium doesn't go towards our income, if we own the stadium it does. Therefore we can afford to spend more on signings and wages, without it our limit on most things will be far far less.
It was a high quality marker pen, for the record. Of course, besides this unforgivable theft of a pen, his biggest crime was robbing our city of Premiership football.
Bollocks it was. It was TWF he stole it from not the club. He saved them some money there and was going to get a promotion out of it.
