I have waited until the media has gorged itself on yesterdays game and come up with its usual negative slant on a game that, apart from some poor passing, had lots of goalscoring chances.
One chance we didn't get was to play against 10 men. Are my son and I the only people who think that under the current rules, Collins should have walked? Surman definitely had a goalscoring opportunity! He was 18 yards from goal FFS. How close do you have to be? The fact that the referee probably got it right with the penalty decision has overshadowed the fact that Surman would have been in the centre of the goal and less than 18 from it. What constitutes a chance?

I think the fact that he wasn't the last man may have influenced the ref's decision there.
