That excuse can just **** off!

Football is for the fans and as a fan I've enjoyed 2 games in 3 days. I love being able to see football this time of the year when Ive got the time off sixth form. No one wants no fixtures at Christmas and cold midweek games away from home instead. I'm dissapointed that City aren't playing on New Year's Day to be exact.

Recently Rooney, Van Gaal and a load of disgruntled overpaid crap have come out with their so stories of having to play football when they're only earning £12 million year!

Our squad of 19 has managed fine over the festive period so why can't squads of 40 like United manage!

Especially as my dad tells me of teams playing 3 games in 4 days back in the day.

It was very different back then when men were men and tackles weren't for the fainthearted etc etc
Rooney and co should thank their lucky stars every second of every day for the undeserved sums of money that clubs throw at them whilst pandering to their every whim.

Isnt football an entertainment industry?- So, just like TV presenters, entertainers, Hotel staff, Theatre actors etc, they all are working at a time when everyone else is relaxing- Footbllers don't enjoy being away from families at Christmas and I can understand that and sympathise, but the vast majority accept it and get on with it.

Try also asking the same question to retail staff and emergency service workers.

Sorry, it gets about the same level of attention for me as the chap who didn't get a card for his birthday

Seems all this diving and whinging about stuff is a reflection on our needy, selfish society these days.. Something that we all helped to create unfortunately!

Difficult question to answer. Do I feel sorry for them? Partly yes, as a majority of us get time off over Christmas. Do I like the games over the Christmas period yes I do :)

At the end of the day millions would give it all to be like them.

I agree with gdknac's comments. Also if the suggestion was to have a break like the rest of Europe, how long before this 'break' was filled with a Euro club completion like a mini World cup etc, bet the clubs wouldn't whinge then, with all the extra revenue flowing in.

Also why is there no New Year Day game in the 'Lower leagues', another tradition lost to TV!!!
