Hard to judge what are good results for us so early in season, but most results went for us. Win and we'll be top on Sunday; draw and we'll be back to 2nd. Another red card for Portsmouth...will they have any players soon?
Blimey, you're quick Fran. The only dull thud was Boro winning. But we have it in our hands to go top tomorrow afternoon, with a point or two to spare. Nice.
Well the fact that the chasing pack are not exactly piling on the pressure is helpful. As long as we get something from tomorrow we should be happy.
I'm strangely more hopeful about Birmingham match after today...any result seems possible in this League.
Something I sort of enjoyed last season, in hindsight, was Brighton being the hare, and Saints had to chase them down. My other sporting love is Grand Prix motorcycle racing, and I can tell you that, on the last lap of a race, many/most racers would prefer to be in a very close second place and chasing the leader down. It's a psychological effect because those in front, if they don't improve their lead, generally only get worse, and the rider in second place overtakes them in the end. Last season, Brighton were never under pressure because Saints were always one, two or even three games in arrears. But it's different now, and I think they may well crack under the pressure. Besides, whilst I don't want to underestimate Brighton, I think there will be other hares out there to chase. Of course I want Saints to hammer Birmingham tomorrow. But if we draw I won't be too disappointed. Birmingham will be up there amongst the hares.
Hee-hee, good one..! Funny, I've done that once before. I wrote a generally descriptive paragraph on a Saints game, and at the top I even had 1-0 ready. All I needed to write was Lambert..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, or whoever scored, beside it. You should have read the reaction I got. Many people thought I'd actually typed it at record speed.
