Most overpriced XI ever: ----------------------------Barthez-------------------------- Dani Alves-------Marquinhos-----------Pepe-------------Shaw -----------------------------Luiz----------------------------- -------------------Veron----------------Kaka----------------- Moura-------------------------------------------------Pastore --------------------------Torres------------------------------
Something can only be said to be overpriced when it is compared to a reference prices. Therefore the question is surely over priced over what? Over priced when compared to the price of bananas, cars, Caribbean islands or cocaine? Personally I would rather have 5 billion penny sweets than one Fernando Torres. But then I would rather have Cristiano Ronaldo than own 0.03% of Google. Does that mean Google is overpriced? Damn, you've opened a big can of worms here Ruff...
As I said in the Shaw thread. Shaw is over priced when you consider he cost United the same amount that Real paid for Coentrao who plays in the same position and was (at the time of sale) a much better player than Shaw (albeit a couple years older).
You can only say H was overpriced over Contrao if both players were being sold at the same time and Contrao was sold at less than £20 million. If Shaw is worth about £20m, United paying around £30m (because of the United premium) is about right.
Why should United have to pay a premium? Thats BS!! Especially not a 50% premium.......... The English thing though I accept, the big English clubs always pay over the odds for English players (Andy Carroll ffs!!) its a fact of modern day football
Because United at the moment are not an attractive proposition (No champions league, 7th, senior players leaving etc)
Excellent piece of business... For Chelsea. Can;t for the life of me understand how it made sense from PSG's point of view.
Indeed, but the Chelsea part is all we care about. PSG are nuts! Luiz was a decent player, but £40m!!
On a more serious note, as teams get bigger and bigger deals on sponsorship, shirts, stadium names, etc etc , tv rights, the transfer fees go up accordingly, but how long can this go on? In the UK alone, we have been in recession, and thankfully, we are slowly getting out of it, but the real losers in all this hype is the GENUINE fans. More and more tickets are "stolen" from the real fans for so called corporate "fans". This translates to the rich git and his oppo's who just happen to have aquired a couple of tickets on a freebie just because they happen to award contracts to the corporate. On average, UK wages rose by 3, maybe 4%. Transfer fees have risen by at least 20%, and thats being very cautious. Fans??? they have to buy a programme to see who is playing! Even their prawn sandwich and chilled white wine is paid for. So they go home and brag to their mates on how wonderful it is to go to Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Anfield etc etc. Oh, I missed St. James Park, but wasnt that also stolen by some multi million conglomerate And the real fans with season tickets? Treated like cattle, and ripped off at every opportunity. Thats why prices have risen, nothing to do at all with skill.
Andy Carroll was £15mill less and think he did more than Torres did for you. Granted, we didn't keep him very long, you kept Torres longer... but Carroll was bought with the pocket change from the Torres transaction. Both were absolutely disasterous transfers. You could add our Keane to that list too!
