It's a good point. Because they were larger and size matters Which raises another question. Did the word's meaning (large) come as a result of the mammoth... or were mammoths named mammoths because they were very large?
Did they really have wool in the dinosaur age? Surely 'Big Fluffy Elephants' is more accurate? Then again, did they even have elephants back then? Maybe 'elephant' translates as 'little bald mammoth' in some language or other?
