The quality of the performance tonight was absolutely first class. Sure the the opposition was not the greatest, but the manner of our performance was as good as we could have hoped for at this stage of the season.

Every player 1-11 was very good. Suarez stood out, but every player was excellent. Pepe looked calmed and compossed as usual, Agger and Skrtel's distrubution was awesome, did they make a single mistake.

We kept possession brilliantly, and at the same time attacked, no signs of to much backwards passing for the sake of it.

First to the second ball. Players work rate exceptional etc etc

I could go go on and on pointing out positives and singing praises. But this is the best LFC performance i have seen for a long long time.

And as a side note, Stevie G was awesome, anyome who has written him off due to age, must be swallowing a bit of pride right now.

Great to see Joe Allen in the crowd, and a first goal for borini.

    A really good night.

completely agree. Very exciting and filling me with confidence. I hope we sign Ramirez though too, still on the fence about Downing plus the extra depth woudlnt hurt

Will settle for Allen, fancy named foreign signings is not what we need, get the players we have filled with confidence and playing with pride and passion.

Ramirez is not the answer. Sprit and pride and believe is. And we saw that tonight.

    Great start.

We can head into a new season filled with optimism. One thing is for sure, we may lose a few games, but it will not be for a lack off effort, those players played with a real determantion tonight.

we really could be the surprise package next year, and the lowered expectation may work in our favor.

    Fantastic start.

I think if we are going to sign any of the linked attackers, I have the best feelings about Walcott and Affelay. Some one more creative like Suarez and some super pace and energy.

Rodgers spoke up Downing being part of his exciting front 4 earlier. He is in his plans and I look forward to seeing it.

We have not played so well for a long time. Considering this is pre-season, things can only get better. I am excited. I am sure a few pessimists will try and pour some scourn on this, but, **** em.

how good was Gerrard tonight, and Suarez OMG. Lucas looked like he had never been injured. Agger and Skrtel, is there a better pair of defenders?

    So many positives.

Last point, how dodgy was the linesman, three or four wrong decisions.

Suarez so sharp the lino could not keep up with it.

New body language from the players. Outstanding

all i'll say is two things

    a) this thread is getting really carried away

    b) the lads set a big standard that i want to see them play week in and week out in terms of effort and passing. thats the vital thing, effort must be kept up and shown every game. Its only gomel and english sides should be fitter and faster and tougher but we must put the effort in.

Very good. Looked like our strongest 11 on paper at the moment and performed like it. I think Shelvey will be hard done by to be dropped for Allen given how he's played preseason but sure Allen will do well too. Only change I'd like to see is someone better than Downing on that right hand side. Strong bench too. Can't wait for the first league game now.

Anyone think we Might need competition/alternates in the full back positions.

They look like they'll have a hell of a lot of work to do this season.

We've midfielders coming out of our ears maybe not depth out wide so ....

Brendan on ESPN, praising our pressing, winning the ball back high up the pitch. Have to go with that. I was worried that we may pass for the sake of it, but there was no signs of that, we moved forward quickly and intelligently.

looks like Allen is nailed on with more signings to happen, Rodgers has all the makings off a legend.
