Since our last time in the Premier league (2004/05) 6 of the teams we played that season are no longer in the Premier league, they are Birmingham, Charlton, Crystal Palace, Middlesborough, Portsmouth and Southampton. These teams have been replaced by QPR, Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea, Wigan and Wolves. How do supporters feel we'll do against these teams compared to the teams they've replaced since 2004/05? Are there any of these teams you are either looking forward to playing or not and why?
My personal opinion as that all the teams that have replaced the ones from last time round are stronger and better prepared but like them so are we! Just take the 3 promoted teams. We are in a much better position than last time, better manager and better all round squad is a big factor. Swansea are alot better than the palace team that went up with us via play-offs and qpr, financially should be fine but i think theres more than meets the eye going on at that club at the moment. If we play our cards right we could emulate WBA and Stoke and hopefully become a more solid premiership side over time, but it wont happen over night... All i can say is BRING EM ON!
On a similar subject, how hard does the Championship look this season? Picking 3 teams to come up and join us in our second season in the Prem isn't going to be easy. The Prem looks tough but I'm glad we're out of the Championship now.
