QPR always appealed to the members of the diaspora who found themselves in a certain part of London. They were the club for those who gathered in Shepherd's Bush or Kilburn and for those who ended up in Kensal Rise, Ladbroke Grove or along the Harrow Road. http://www.independent.ie/sport/soc...-to-face-the-championship-music-31209498.html please log in to view this image
Good piece, thanks for sharing. "Ramsey's appointment reflected QPR's late conversion to prudence when they probably needed one last shot at extravagance." Very much on the money.
"If he had taken over from Harry Redknapp, there would not have been such a contrast but he might have harnessed the home support in a way that has escaped Chris Ramsey, who has closed the gap between QPR's home and away performances by making the home displays as bad as those away from Loftus Road." If Harry was **** then why do so many people want someone who's achieved less with the same squad as the new manager? Bonkers. Warnock or Holloway for me now, not sure either will help us avoid the double flush though. Quick question to anyone: Since Ramseys arrive at the club as youth coach, have the youth performances improved? I ask as Steve Gallen was doing very well in the role and moved to the "Senior Professional Development" role on Ramseys arrival. (Moved aside for Les's mate) Some stats anyone?
Good, but rather sad read that pretty much sums us up. Interesting the mention of the QPR support catchment area, which includes by family origins. Roll on St. Jude, our patron saint of lost causes. The merger took place in 1885. Edward Bottle was headmaster of St Jude’s, the Droop Street board school, when the boys football club was formed by Jack McDonald and Fred Weller supported by the Reverend Gordon Young. The Christchurch boys club team was formed by George Wodehouse, senior......... http://www.kilburntimes.co.uk/sport/football/queens-park-rangers/qpr_history_in_125_years_1_657464 please log in to view this image http://www.indyrs.co.uk/2011/02/the-reverend-charles-gordon-young-the-birth-of-queens-park-rangers/
I like the line: "Chris Ramsey, who has closed the gap between QPR's home and away performances by making the home performances as bad as those away from Loftus Road." Sad but true.
Very enjoyable read. Thanks for posting Corrib. By the way, are you expecting a pre-season friendly in Galway this Summer as agreed with the Ryan Manning trransfer? Any rumours on that front?
