Wonder if we knew about it. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sp...rdiff-City-player-Lee-Tomlin-charged-GBH.html
not great news. I know it was before he joined us, but its the fact that it happened. I know everyone can get caught up in something, but..... I wonder if Tan will get his private dick out to do a bit of digging into Mr Tolin's social habits. Where did the £2.9M figure come from? Thought it was less than that.
Tomlin has been taken under Belamy's wing and is getting a bag of golf clubs to help with his anger management????
Playing the devil's advocate for the moment. If Tomlin is found guilty and given a fine and/or a community order, would his position become untenable? He would have a criminal record and goes against the clubs family standards mission.
Can't see that happening.....as long as they were made aware prior to signing him. If they weren't aware and there's a 'bringing club in to disrepute' type of clause, then further action is possible. Footballers are no angels, though and we've invested too much to let this situation disrupt things. Ain't t it strange, though, after the best month in living memory (well one of 'em anyway), we get this & the Tan/ Cornelius thingy derailing our efforts.
Also, though I'm not a 'legal' person, 'without intent' suggests they got involved in something rather than instigated.
Yes this "without intent" is a strange one, never seen that before. Edit To be charged for GBH without intent it is considered that the act was reckless. Under Section 20 GBH the defendant lacks the necessary mens rea for the more serious offence, meaning the defendant did not have the intention. Seriously harming a victim without intent is a Section 20 Assault—a less serious form of GBH.
Simplistically it must mean somebody got hurt as a result of the incident but it wasn't intentional at the time. The worrying this is that the charge is GBH and not ABH which is the much lesser option. The "victim" must have been well hurt to justify pursuing that.
Wiffle, yeah, an awesome start and looking forward to watching as many games as I can. You're right, we could do without the off field stuff.
