Out of contract players are: Faye Dawson McKenna Simpson McShane Rosenior Olofinjana Cooper Cairney Cullen Bradley East Devitt Oxley Emerton Who should get new deals? And also interestingly if we don't offer players new deals, should we try and get some money for those who are surplus in January?
Dawson, Mckenna, Cullen, Devitt, Oli, Oxley? Oxley must be getting bored. Those will leave I'm sure, I'm not totally convinced Rosenior will get a contract either or Simpson? I heard Faye was retiring at the end of this season.
If we go up, hard seeing any getting a contract, Faye for his experiance maybe on a one year deal, and possibly Cairney if he has a good end to the season, But Meylers signing will push him further down the pecking order. Apart from those two id sell, Release the rest.
olifinjana has to be the 2nd biggest waste of space/cash this club has ever spunked. interesting to see how much hes earned compared to Bullard.
Cairney is my only definite to keep, maybe 2 years, but he really needs to show why. East has been talked about as a good player but I don't know about that. Faye, Simpson, Rosenior & McShane are the only other ones I see being thought about, with Macca taking a huge pay cut, but I think he'll go too. It'll be a shame to see Rosie go but if he doesn't fit in then there's no point keeping anyone around for sentimental reasons, although getting some money for the talent would be good. Simmo is maybe being thought of as a back up if we went up, with Faye being given 1 year, also as back up.
Cant comment on the younger lads as I havent seen them, however I would suggest they will be given the boot so SB has more money to play with. Daws was only given an extension for his 10 years, he will be gone. I think McShane and Oli's wages can be better spent on other players (we could probably bring in 5\6 players for what they cost us - although that wont happen with an eye on the fair play rules coming in. I dont see a future for Rosie (he will want first team football, or should do) or McKenna. Faye should get another year even if its just for his experience. He has been outstanding when he's played this season, but his legs (or pace) would worry be in the prem.
That's Easy to answer.......none of them, because if we are in the Prem like I expect us to be, None of them will cut the mustard. So why bother
Half of that list are youth players with little, or no, first team experience. I think Cairney will get a new deal, some of the young lads(East, Emerton, Bradley) may get another year, Cooper should get another year but won't and McShane might be offered a new deal on a third of what he's on now(though personally, I wouldn't offer him one). I expect the others to all go.
Faye can have another year. Dawson and McKenna will probably want to go in search of game time Simpson, Cairney and Rosenior deserve new deals. McShane and Olofinjana can **** off. Cooper, Bradley and East all show potential so I'd keep them. Cullen, Emerton and Devitt can go. Oxley I'd keep as a third choice unless we're going to sign another two keepers.
Cairney,Simpson,Faye and Rosenior would be worth keeping on massively reduced contracts as squad fillers, the rest should go, imo.
I cant see Faye sticking around for another season, especially if we do get promoted even though i would like him to. Cairney will and i can see McShane getting another contract. As for the rest, probably simpson and maybe east and bradley but that would be it for me.
