We are heavily linked to signing Carrick at the end of the season - any thoughts? My thought - I hope not!
Any thoughts...? Yes. About Carrick? *desperately tries to connect Carrick story to big story of today* Nah... We have too many midfielders, and if Man Utd don't want him, neither do I. Also, AJ is a *****.
Far too old (by 19 years, according to some North East sources) and has played quite a part in Man U's snoozefest throughout the season as he's just too slow. Does simple stuff well, but weren't we burned buying Butt, who was considerably younger (though still over-age, I hasten to add). Non-starter for me as well - he's being lined up for a coaching role there I read. Just one of those tired, he's-a-geordie-therefore-a-toon-target rumours that comes around every so often.
This all day long, don't think he will be at the toon next year or anyother for that matter, at 34 he is to old for us (and Adam Johnson)
Was class a year or two ago, but agree with this. Man Utd only let players go when they either exhaust their usefulness, or Real etc want them... Since I don't see Zidane battering down the door, I presume the former. Shelvey is the bouyo now
Yes please. Could be very useful to have around experience wise if the price is right. You can never have enough midfielders, Steve told me so So if its him or a CB or LB, give me Michael all day long. He has played centre back badly too hasn't he? Fit right in.
Apparently when AJ signed for Sunderland he sought out one of the older *****philes and asked " where's the best place to find children " The fella replied " It's swings and roundabouts really "
BREAKING NEWS: Following his admission of guilt, Adam Johnson has been sentenced to a three year contract extension with Sunderland.
Michael Carrick walks straight back into the Man Utd team and still has plenty to offer. He won't come to NUFC because the board will never sanction a transfer for a 34-year old! Shame, a player of his calibre doesn't often become available. #geordieboy
Can't believe you would say no to Michael Carrick He absolutely pisses on anything you currently have in midfield...
You'd think with the kiddy fiddling you would calm down, but no - straight into watersports. What the hell do they feed you south of the tyne??
Have to say all joking aside id take Carrick all day long - he us quality. He ain't coming here though so I never really took it seriously. Sorry for derailing your thread with Johnson jokes Darren.
Would love to see Carrick for just one year wear the shirt. If he's good enough age shouldn't matter.
I think Carrick is one of the most underrated midfield players around and I would take him in a heartbeat. For a player of his style pace isnt that important so although he may be a bit slower its not affected his game. The way he closes a player down and his ability to pick a pass is second to none in UK. He would be the perfect foil for Shelvey and would also strengthen our defensive side dramatically. If Utd have any sense they will give him a 1 year extension.
