Next summer the following players are all out of contract:

    Ciaran Clark
    Fabian Schar
    Andy "the crock" Carroll
    Dwight Gayle
    Isaac Hayden
    Federico Fernandez
    Karl Darlow
    Christian Atsu
    Jacob Murphy
    Henri Saivet
    Rolando Aarons
    Achraf Lazaar

At least 8 of these will play a part in this season - we will need to replace all 8. Under Mike Ashley?

If we are not relegated this season we will most certainly be the following season and what happens if we are relegated this season there won't be any come back at first attempt!

Some form of takeover needs to happen urgently!

Yes but who will sign new contracts and who will we realistically replace?

I've highlighted the definite Premier League quality player.

Clark, Gayle, Fernandez and even Hayden do a job for us. The rest... probably better off the wage bill lets be honest here.

Don't think Schar will stay unless he gets games

I think the club is at a crossroads and already facing down the wrong road.

I, like many others, have given up this coming season. With away fans likely banned and no home crowd making up for the players shortfalls at home, I think relegation is likely. With so much change then needed in adding to a squad, with an owner who barely allows more than 3-4 signings a year, it looks very likely Ashley and Charnley's utter incompetence will catch up with Newcastle in the end.

The 2 year Matty contract tells you that Ashley wants out. But not quite desperately enough to sell the club at a realistic price. We're basically looking at either a takeover, or League One/administration within 2-3 years.

Do you know if away fans are going to be banned all season?

Ciaran Clark - never done anything wrong, as a squad player he's fine
Fabian Schar - Which Schar? The one who was interested or last seasons version? Regardless he'll have resale value so sign him.
Andy "the crock" Carroll - I think he'll be finished then. He's largely finished now.
Dwight Gayle - Sell now if he won't sign an extension (has resale value)
Isaac Hayden - Sell now if he won't sign an extension (has resale value)
Federico Fernandez - If he can continue at same level, keep him forever and ever amen
Karl Darlow - I think they are trying to shift him now
Christian Atsu - Just let him expire (contract not life)
Jacob Murphy - I think they are trying to shift him now
    Henri Saivet - who?
    Rolando Aarons - Give up
Achraf Lazaar - bolt gun out the back

Problem is shifting some of those so your expiring of contract may be only way to get rid

This was all allowed to happen to allow the new owners to do a complete overhaul I assume.

Ashley had been getting everything set up nicely for the sale

If some of the dead wood hadn't been given excessively long term contracts they'd already be long gone by now.

With less money floating about this summer, most will stay, run down contracts and be offski next summer.

Alternatively, Ashley could offer them new contracts, and then fans can have a bleat on about that instead.

It’s actually a canny move. Ash is able to clear a lot of dead wood... he’s only signing freebies or cheap signings so his net player asset value is either maintained or bettered... all good for when PIF come back. This is why Matty will have only signed for 2 years... it will likely suit both parties so we can see who is In charge.

Seems strange giving Hendrick a 4 year deal then

he may have insisted on it. He’s probs on low wages though. A grafter like Hendrick hanging around for 4 years on low money is better that ****house shirkers like Saivet, Lazar, Muto and Arrons who can’t cut it in the prem sucking up a wage for 1 year.

I'd surprised if he's on less than £50k per week.
At 29, a 4yr contract is about right and the length most other clubs offer.
The days of 5 or 6 year contracts are well gone, thankfully.
