why does brendan never play this guy he has 3 appearances in the league which is ridiculous, brendan was the one who brought him for £3mill so why doesnt he play him. i can see him going back to holland as ajax seem to have some interest in him which is a crying shame as i really think he is a good little player who given playing time could be a success at anfield.
He's looked very positive when he's played. Very hard to judge as he's played so few minutes. A strange one as he seems like he'd at least be useful coming off the bench with his pace and skills.
The only thing I can put it down to is being too lightweight. Okay, so Coutinho at the moment is a bit lightweight, probably always will be. Not a bad thing as he isn't afraid of challenges. I noticed when Assaidi played against Zenit he cowered as the ball was in the air coming at him. Not sure if he was cowering from the ball or from the Zenit player that was yet to challenge him for the ball. He did it a couple of times. Only thing I can think of, otherwise he looked alright.
Has to be something behind the scene, everytime he is asked about Assaidi it is something new with "sickness" Ramadan" "injury" etc.
Oh... maybe he's too old for Rodgers and he is waiting for him to get young... thought he was 21 although I'm sure I'm wrong.
I get the impression that he wasn't Rodgers's signing. Makes sense as Rodgers didn't have a lot of time to assess the squad AND to scout his own players (this was before the new scouting team took shape). It's a shame as I think Assaidi is a very useful option to have on the bench and he has shown his ability to attack defenders and run with the ball.
If he doesn't rate Assaidi as people are saying then why did he throw him on Vs Zenit when we needed a goal? He could be getting used to the physicality of the league & strengthening himself (muscles etc) for next season?? Though if that were the case he might've played for the reserves a few times. New signings back in the day goy a season or two to acclimatise to the club first before they played. Rush did, so did Molby I'm sure.
I hope he is given a run in the team because he would definitely fit into the system Rodgers wants us to play, if he leaves in the summer and so does Downing, we'd probably need a new winger.. Again! Hope he really is given a chance though
When John Henry spoke about the summer transfer he said that Samid Yesil and Oussama Assaidi were 'Ones for the future'. I thought 'no you idiot, Assaidi is 24'. But maybe Henry was right.
