This is how id like to see us lineup after Xmas once we get players back. Ideally we'll make some signings but if not in my opinion this is the strongest team we can field.......3-4-1-2..

    ................Hoff................
    ...Younger/Alves..Doyle..Xhemajli
    Huggins.............................Cirkin..
    ...............Winchester....Neil......
    ................Embleton.........
    .......Broadhead......Stewart.....

Ive purposely left all our wingers out because in my opinion Gooch is garbage, Mcgeady looks like age has caught up with him and Dajaku looks too raw so he'd be better as an impact sub. He doesn't look ready to be a regular starter in League 1 to me.

    Whats everybody else's ideal line-up??

Apart from Younger and Xhemajli being unproven yet that looks bob on. Plenty of experience in the bench Flanagan, Evans, O'Nien, McGeady etc

I'll pinch your back 3/5 assuming that Xhemajli lives up to the hype.

Ahead of that I'd have O'Nien holding midfield with Neil and Embleton ahead of him, Broadhead and Stewart up top same as you.

As far as I'm concerned that gives us width, a solid defence, fight and quality in midfield and numbers going forward.

As we are giving soft goals away, I am in favour of anything atm that will strengthen our defence.

Your remarks about our wingers are not far off either.

Good question for me the Hoff, Neil, Embleton Broadhead and Stewart are nailed on, its the other six that are the problem, Winchester, Flanagan , Doyle and Firkin looked set, so maybe the recent problems lie in the other two positions, and how they are instructed to play, its a dilemma I will leave for now to LJ.

Alot of the problem has been down to our inability to rotate the squad with the amount of players we've had missing. Cirkin, Onien, Doyle and Winchester are 4 players desperately showing signs of mentally and physically suffering because they have to play every single game because we have no suitable replacements for them.
Hume and Huggins would normally have been an option in the fullback positions to allow Cirkin and Winchester some time off, or to allow Winchester to play in midfield and give Onien a rest.
What we do in the transfer market in Jan will be vital on how this season pans out.

The Hume thing seriously pisses me off. QPR lad went out to do him without a shadow of doubt. Not even a foul!! Just getting back to fitness and some **** does that. And they have the gall to complain about an offside!!

Agree totally. There are players needing a bit if time out of the side. Hopefully we’ll get there

Wouldn't disagree with that lineup at all, definitely worth trying it out to see if it works. I'd go for Younger at the back over Alves.
I think Alves will go back to West Ham in January. I also think O'Brien and Wright will be away as well.
Gooch is on thin ice for me as well.

  10. I don't think Doyle is suited to this league and I'm hoping we have the option to terminate the loan in January. I think he's a very nice, cultured footballer, but, despite his height,he's not strong enough, wants more time than he gets and is not what we need at centre back atm. Xemalji ( Arby) will be a much better solution to our defensive frailty,if we can get him back fit and well. If we play with a three at the back,it may well be that Younger,Flanagan and Arby, flanked by Huggins ( who we've yet to see really!) and Cirkin will be our best option. Holding midfield must be Evans if he's fit, if not Luke, with Neil and either Embo or Winchester.......although I do like him at wing back........ alongside him....Stewart and Broadhead up top.
One thing....if everyone is fit there are a number of options.....we've assembled a good squad here. I don't think we should be too depressed atm. We've got Ipswich up next, and Plymouth a few weeks after a couple of away matches......let's see how we go and where we are before we go to Portman Road and then Xmas.
If LJ isn't up to it,we'll surely know by then...... and so will KLD.

We definitely need to try two up front again, we aren’t scoring anywhere near enough goals but shipping too many at the back.

Hoping to see this next game but I won’t hold my breath.

i go along with the 'two up top' idea, especially as both stewart and broadhead can play anywhere across the front, can hold the ball up, bring others into play meaning there is scope for plenty of interchange between them and we do not really have to drop an AM.

we seem quite narrow in defence, by that i mean we seem ok until attacked down the flanks when we struggle to stop or deal with crosses or balls played in, both alves and younger are good in the air but are they better at tracking runs, winchester has been on top form but does tend to wander upfield too much leaving our right side exposed, right now i feel we firstly need to shore up our defence so hopefully by the next game we might see a change or two.

gooch and geads certainly need to be producing more, i cannot say they have 'done nowt' but in all fairness i think it is safe to say they could have done more, maybe a bit of bad luck with crosses or maybe they need to put more thought into them but i feel we all expect more 'end product' from them.

Thing is, putting an extra man up front doesn’t always give more goals. And it removes a player doing more “defensive “ work which could (potentially]) open us up to conceding more! ****ed if I know the answer!

It wouldn't surprise me tbh. He may also bomb Flanno as well imo.

Subbing him at HT against Mansfield was a surprise to me, given how well he had done previously. Maybe patience is running out.

Quite possibly yes. Another option may (or may not) be purchased in Jan. His other option at CH (Alves) played at RB and got hooked as well (not his position tbf). I think there will be changes at the back in Jan.
