Lee Clark, expect an announcement within the next couple of weeks. Sourced from a friend of the family who has colleagues in the Yorkshire Press.
You must be confident you are right to put this information out. Allam's have only just announced they are ready to shortlist.
A friend of mine runs a media production company doing corporate videos, exhibitions, adverts etc and through his work he has met a variety of people from all walks of life, one happens to be a freelance journalist who writes a lot for local press in the yorkshire region, he was having a drink with him at the weekend in Pontefract and he happened to mention it, not sure myself if it is true but he doesnt normally inform me of anything so it is strange he has mentioned this to me now. I suppose its a watch this space thingy
The whole Lee Clarke thing is odd to me. Running a team well, playing good football, and looking good for promotion, then suddenly sacked? Makes it odder still is that his back room team where sacked too, and no one else in football has picked him up? Football is a close circle, so is there something more to his sacking??? That been said he would be one of my top picks, more so if he could bring Rhodes with him
Apparently a ,lot of the Huddersfield fans were getting annoyed with his 4-5-1 long ball football, having originally gone there playing attacking 4-4-2.
Defensive, played to not get beat rather than win. People who thought Nige was defensive (he really wasnt) would have a field day...
If true this is fairly underwhelming. Okay the guy is a good League 1 manager, but so was Phil Parkinson. If it is Lee Clark, then I'll settle for a mid-table finish now, because I reckon we will be in a relegation battle
would like to see what PT & OLM think about this. have either of you heard anything to confirm this ?
I don't really get why you'd say he's a good League 1 manager but couldn't do it at this level. It's the same game and the same criteria involved. Parkinson was just a **** manager, there were plenty of reasons suggested; some thought it was because he didn't have his assistant from Colchester, some thought it was because he was too obsessed with fitness rather than football and most of us agreed that his increasingly negative football wasn't getting us anywhere. It was not because he'd come from League 1 though. The problem I'd have with Clark though, is the negative football that others have mentioned, I haven't seen much of it so I'm just going by what others are saying about him, but it doesn't sound promising.
He's mega boring in interviews too, which will please those that watch us on Radio Humberside. I'd take him over Megson or Blackwell though.
Of course it could turn out to be true, but why does anything believe, or beleave if you prefer, the words of a freelance journalist? Why would the Allams let someone like that know anything? Journalists really are the scum of the earth, they will happily make **** up, misquote you and publish whatever the hell they like for a few quid and a few column inches.
Well he failed to get Huddersfield up so he would be delighted to manage a Championship team at last. I know we were always playing friendlies behind closed doors with Huddersfield when he was in charge so he will have seen our set up. Wasn't Kilbane at Huddersfield for a while. Don't want to watch boring football though, just going on what others are saying.
Whilst that's true for say the Sun or NOTW when it existed, it doesn't have to apply to all journalists. When Burnsy talks about City he speaks like a fan but with a bit more information and it makes sense. At the same time Swanny is less sensible and talks even more like the average fan but neither of them really make things up to sensationalise things, they call it as they see it.
