I think we really need to get Martinez back, it’s the only way we will get our quality football returned, Carlos has disappointed these last few months, not really his fault, just look at the dross he has to work with, some of the worst football I have ever seen this season, please no more, it will kill us even in the championship.
Given Calvahal got Sheffield to 2 playoffs. He's staying. Along with the majority of the squad who will have not secured a transfer.
If we change the manager would you look for someone with experience or Frank Lampard who is doing his badges and wants to go in to management.
At the moment the whole situation is confused as am I. We have a squad that is a good Championship group (loanees might also be better served in the Championship, but how many could be persuaded to stay? Do we go for a return to the PL or accept a complete rebuild to reinvent ourselves? Since Monk we have been a mishmash of puff and promise. Cardiff gained promotion by going with Neil Warnock which proves a good manager at that level isn't necessarily a good manager in the PL. I think we missed a trick by not bringing in Graham Potter and Billy Reid from Östersunds or Paulo Sousa - I doubt they'd move unless it was to a PL club. (I also think we'd have been OK with Guidolin.) I'd like to think there is a young manager out there who could do a Martinez but don't think it will happen in the Championship, we'd have to drop and experiment. Lampard? No thanks. IMO he has disrespected the Swans and is another Giggs. For some fans the ideal is a young English (British) manager and anyone from over the seas is automatically rubbish. Do you have any suggestions?
There is one (young) Spaniard who knows the Club inside out and who knows the Swansea Way......... Angel Rangel anyone? He could be supported by an old head as Assistant Manager who knows The Championship. Could he be any worse than Clement or Carvalhal?
I'd take Leon & Rangel and manager and assistant. Give them a good period of time to build stability bring back the Swansea way to make another push. Might take a few years but well worth waiting for in my book.
Also those lines, Michu was guest of honour recently. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...ws/michu-interview-swansea-city-goal-14591089
If Jenkins does go, which I hope is the case, then what about Martinez as director of all football with Britton and / or Rangel as first team coach....we’d have rookie managers but an experienced mentor on board to bring back our identity.
I wouldn’t be surprised, at this moment in time I’d take him. At least he would be passionate about the club.
