Right, we all know the drill with this by now, how many points from our next 6 league games, which takes us to the end of February? Newcastle (A) W - 1-2 Swansea (H) L - 0-1 QPR (A) W - 0-1 West Ham (H) Liverpool (H) West Brom (A)
Newcastle away 1-1 draw Swansea 2-0 win Qpr 1-0 win West ham 2-1 win Liverpool 8-0 win (probably 2-0 win) West brom away 1-1 draw
18 points is actually a real, genuine, hand-on-heart possibilty from those games, so I shall choose that.
I'd actually be disappointed if we came out of that with less than 4 wins. Which is madness. However they are all legitimately winnable fixtures, especially the home games. Beating Liverpool and Spurs are the only two things on my to-do list this season...
I've just realised that if we did actually win all 6 games, we would have exceeded last season's total (and our best-ever total in the Prem) by the end of February! I think I need to lie down.
Newcastle (A) draw Swansea (H) win QPR (A) win West Ham (H) draw Liverpool (H) win West Brom (A) draw So 12/18 points. Achievable, but could be higher.
Newcastle (A) Win Swansea (H) Win QPR (A) Win West Ham (H) 0-0 draw Liverpool (H) Win West Brom (A) 1-1 Draw 14 points.
Newcastle (A) win Swansea (H) win QPR (A) draw West Ham (H) win Liverpool (H) lose West Brom (A) win 13 points.
Yeah, these are all winnable fixtures, but so were those against Burnley and Aston Villa. In this league you can slip when you least expect it, bad day in the office or some rotten luck and you lost the game. That's why I don't look beyond the next league match. But Ronald made me a believer in our organisation. If we keep it tight and play impervious defense like we did in the last three matches, we'll nevertheless score, but the opponent won't.
When you are a good side, you will have the points at the end of the season, but you can never 100% guess which matches you will get them in. Thank goodness...otherwise football would be a very dull game.
