Our midfield once again steps in where our strikers fear to tread!

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Jan 31, 2012.

  1. Oh, boy! If only we had a strike-force that could actually score, we'd be invincible!

Bale and Moddy were immense again for us, tonight. Further proof, if any further proof is actually needed, that we simply cannot expect to compete for CL footy without either of them.

I really don't care if we sign any one or not, so long as we keep these two for another two or three seasons.

It's insurmountable to any team not named Man Utd according to the pundits...

Point is HIAG neither of them may fancy a CL campaign with us if we don't strengthen in the summer, and that means some top draw signings. The thought of even the likes of Berbatov playing in front of our midfield is a mouthwatering prospect.

He might have if we were getting the player that left Manure, but he is 35 years old now. His best days are viewable on ESPN Classic. He'll probably score more than Carroll between now and May though.

Unlikely. Carroll will probably score more goals than Saha plays games, and that's saying something. Strange signing in my eyes. Though sort of understandable if Pav is going back to Russia, Saha will be your 4th? striker.

  14. Oops!

    Corrected, now.

I was rather tired, when I wrote that.

    Apologies.

But, you all knew what I meant!

  15. I don't see it as strange, at all. In fact, I think it's a stroke of genius.

Pav was probably bringing the dressing room down with his continual griping at not getting regular first team action; getting him out of the club will, in itself, ease any tension he may have been creating, because it was clear that he was not content being a make-weight in our strike-force.

Saha is clearly only with us for, at best, the whole of next season. At 33, he cannot believe that he is going to be anything other than a squad player, and I am sure that he has been brought in with that realisation. Even if he can no longer produce the goods on the pitch (as he used to), his experience around the training ground will be invaluable for our other strikers, especially our youngsters.

In the event that we secure CL footy for next season, I have absolutely no doubt that Levy will bring in a marque striker, as well as other players, to replace the likes of GDS, Pinaare, Bentley, Jenas, Bassong, and any others that he clearly intents to ship out.

Well as Oh Carroll has scored 7 goals in 12 months I do believe that the above will be proven to be a somewhat foolhardy comment.

Saha doesn't need to excite us, he's just cover, something Pav naturally was unhappy about with Euro's in the summer. JD will also be looking for game time in the run up too, with Spurs only having PL games, how were we supposed to play them all. Also, tell me who else was available, happy with the terms (and I don't mean wages) on offer in our present situation.

  19. A little emotional, perhaps. But not in a Mouser way. I didn't start singing songs about walking through a storm.
