....what does he actualy bring to the party now?
For me, very little I am affraid. I remember fondly when he first arrived at ours as he was the heart, the engine, the backbone of the team. His second season was probably his best?......was he not in the CCC team of the season award thingy?
He has since then gone slowly down the pecking order don't you think? Remember Wolves being linked with a bid of a few million for him a few seasons back, plus his usualy half dozen or so goals, but he is all but a squad player.
What happened to our Marv?......was it the long term injury or just that we now have a better midfield?
A likeable fella though and I would love to see him back at his hustle and bustle best......

He just seemed to go from a top midfielder to Joe average overnight almost. Not meant as a thread to diss him at all, but talking to a wolves fan on the weekend and he asked if he was still our first name on the team sheet and I could'nt realy put my finger on a reason as to why not.
PS.....sorry Shiny, just a question thats all!

We can't judge him on what we've seen this season, he has been injured since February is it? So it will take a while. I have full faith he we come back to his best. We'll all see it soon enough

Would rather have him on the bench than lose him or perhaps play him ahead of Pearson when we face Blackburn as he's probably the weak link at the moment

**** sake Caldicott ( Chepstows council estate) you gone and upset my mate Shiny ;)

Do you want me to **** his plant up Shiny??

But have to agree with Banksy he tends to mess the shape up, good squad player incase we have Skuse injured, just can't see the two of them in the same team <ok>

You could do, he hit me where it hurt, the Marv nerve :(

Skuse and Marvin played well with each other last year, went on our first decent run with them in the middle

Im hoping they start with Skuse and Jody against Blackburn as think it will allow skuse to get forward.

Just hope the manager sticks with 4-4-2 as in the last few games he has taken a striker off for another midfielder, we lose shape and let goals in. I can see he is trying to pack the midfield but it means we lose a striker and it allows the other team to get further forward as we get too defensive

Not sure if it's just Marv struggling to get match fit after his serious injury.
Del's the man who should know.

Anyone think Marv could play CH with Carey alongside ?

    Hmm interesting one Redprintt...

I wouldn't like to risk it in a league game unless forced to do so. Maybe trial it in a cup match or pre-season.

It could work though, he is dominant in the air and on the ground. However, he is also very clumsy, wouldn't want to see him give away needless penalties every other match.

years ago when I played football and the ball was about 20kgs on a wet day!!!! It was usually close to 2 - 3 - 5 and nearly always of the 5, 1 or 2 would be goal hangers!! the full backs nearly always stayed in their own half....................... and then along came the modern day 4-4-2 and apt quotes like the above.
If Ryan Taylor always stayed up on or beyond the half way line at least 1 defender would need to stay back. YES, great from time to time attackers do make some spectacular saves but also how often does a defender score a spectacular( because he is a defender) goal!

Stick to a formation and only change it if you are a couple goals up..................Bring on Marv sub with like for like ( Pearson) or a defender and play 3-5-2...but then again we are only supporters the manager is Derek he knows what he is doing!!

Would be worried to see Marv at centre half to be honest, much rather we bring in a decent defender on loan which DMc thankfully seems to be looking to do.

The first season after he joined us he was a joy to watch

Little by little ever since the magic has disappeared every season

Think that one might be on the dressing room wall Wiz...

I am a big Marv fan and bearing in mind that he is still just getting over a MAJOR injury, I think it is a little too early to be writing him off just yet. I'll tell you what, I reckon that if he manages to get regular games, we will see him back to his very best under DM

Marv is still coming back from that injury - it prevented him from having a full pre-season - judge him in 5 or 6 games time - I think the fella will be ok

PS - we called one of our cats Marvin after him, so he has to stay!!!

    Agreed with Jambo on this.

Yes, Scuze is a better option when on his game. However i would be happier to see Buzsaky rolling through our doors tbh
