I've just finished reading 442's September edition, it has a piece on Cardiff City's change to a red kit this year after such a long tradition of having blue kits. Apparently the main reason was money, more specifically the fact that the colour red is big in the Asian market and is a very strong colour in Asian culture. This got me thinking what with our recent dip into the Asian transfer market with Lee and Yoshida, does our kit being more red than ever have anything to do with our recent attempts to build up an Asian Fanbase? Or have I gone a bit too "sherlock" on this?
Someone pointed out that Japan play in blue so not essential. I just think that Nicola thinks that the mainly red shirts are classy...and I agree with him. Stripes are just vulgar and only loved because we are familiar with them.
new kit is crap. Bring back proper stripes. Anyone else noticed we've not won a game in the new kit? Coincidence? I think not.
I blame our poor start on the lack of stripes. I don't think it matters to most fans I always see a good collection of old shirts in the crowd. I think us buying the Jap capt has more to do with our tapping into the Asian market than a red shirt. We ditched the stripes a few years ago also.
Every one knows that the width of our stripes are directly proportional to the number of points achieved So last years stripes where 5.7cm and we got 88 points so Points = Width x Kit Constant 88 = 5.7 x K so K = 15.44 This years strip has a width of 0.3 cm so.. Points = 15.44 x 0.3 So we are gonna get 4.6 points so lets be generous and say 5 points. So we aren't doing to bad at the moment
The Japanese are a singular and eccentric nation who probably take great pleasure in doing the opposite of their Asian neighbours. The Chinese, however, are mad for red.
Could this kit be as unlucky as the light blue away kit we had in our last season in the prem? Im pretty sure we only won one game in that (middlesborough away) if my memory serves me. Our win against Stevenage we were in Yellow!
I really couldn't give a ****e about what our kit looks like. There. Brilliant contribution to this thread, I know.
I thought the stripes could have been more cleverly integrated into the design, rather than using the Sweden national kit template. As a kit I don't have a problem with it, and after seeing our players play United, Wigan and City in it, it is our kit now.
The new strip looks OK but it just doesnt look Saints to me - have to say that i prefer us playing in our traditional red & white stripes.
I'm not a fan of the new kit really. THe new kit resembles change, something which is very much present at St. Mary's currently.
Oh look another thread that people can bitch and moan about the new kit.Only like the 5th thread already and it's only been 3 games.
The kit is nice enough, doesn't say Saints to me. Main thing for me is that the investment in the club and staff continues. It's not like they've put us in blue white and red in any case.
Actually mate if you'd care to read the first post, I didn't even express an opinion on the kit. Just asked a question.
The new Red & White pinstripe kit is awesome but as someone else mentioned, I would prob take the 2012 Athletico Madrid shirt too.
New kit is awesome. Only reason why people are against it is that it's not the traditional red and white stripes.
