Seems we have the longest in football, takes our lads longer to heal, deffo longer to up to match speed. Then there's the ice box, get Bain to return it to the AOL, and pay back all the commission he was paid.
I agree with the first sentence,......no idea about the second. We do seem to have a lot of injuries and they do seem to take a long time to heal....it's a worry.
What the club need to do is ensure they are hosing all the very best technology in order to monitor the players and adjust intensity of training sessions according to how fatigued they are etc.. and employ the best people to run it, I'll caveat that by saying I'm only guessing due to the injuries that we aren't quite there in this department yet. Big Sam brought with him a system that did something similar to this and look at the players that were injury free under him! I remember having this discussion in here when last season finished, that money should be spent there and would be as important as any signing. I think it was said by a few on here that that side of things has never got back to the levels Allardyce had it at. Impact injuries on the pitch are fair enough but injuries in training and seeming to take long time to recover points to improvements needing to be made!
I put a post out before but it's a combination of things. We definitely need to review our practices on prehabilitation and get the modern tech back in. But it's also the recruitment model. We sign very young players, most from different leagues who are simply not equipped physiologically to deal with the beast that is the championship. We also, on the flip side sign some older players who have talent but inconsistent physiology and littered with injuries. Add all those ingredients into the pot and you'll get the longest injury list.
There's another question, are players at other clubs brought back more quickly when perhaps not quute ready ... ... I noticed, last night, West Brom saying they've lost four strikers including Josh Maja then Cedric Kipre last night. QPR were saying they had to put out a scratch side.
We DO seem to have a batch of injuries in the same position every year. 2021 it was defenders, last year strikers and this season midfielders Mowbray seems to take a cautious approach when bringing players back which is frustrating in the shirt term but sensible in the long term. We seem to get a lot of training ground injuries so you wonder if there could be something in that. Pretty sure Alese's original injury (back in March) was a training ground injury. Dack, Aouchice and Cirkin's most recent ones were training as was Mayenda's. Hopefully the club are looking at that
I think the schedule is also relentless - there was a time where the International Break was a chance for coaches to work with players on team shape and a chance for others to rest up and get fit. They even started moving fixtures forward so players returned to their clubs early...............now it seems as though we lose 2/3s of the squad and only get them back the day before the game. I'm with Wenger on this one - harmonise the leagues and develop an international window in the summer to play all the qualifiers. Get them out the way and stop disrupting the season. We're still recovering from the stupid decision to play the World Cup in the middle of last season and reduce the recovery time before and after the seasons start and end
Not just think it’s because we play the same team 3 times a week unless someone has a knock? We need rotation.
how is LND doing? pretty sure we heard 'at least september' till we see him get games, here we are at the end of october and no sign at southampton...i will guess he is at least out on the grass running now and maybe a little 'contact' but that would put him into next year before he gets real game time. been a big miss in my eyes, could have given dan neil a couple of rests, i think it is an important position, not easy to chuck a lad in one day and expect a high level from him.
