Hi all! Well it's a new week, line firmly drawn and we look forwards and upwards! Well let's face it we can't look any further down I've been reviewing our fixtures and we have 7 out of our next 11 at St Mary's. So home form is vital! OK one of these is a cup game against the Owls but that apart we have some on paper very winnable home matches plus a couple of easier away games in London. We can win at least 5 out of the next 10 league games which will set us up nicely for the rest of the season. So what do you all think is 5 wins unrealistic?
Most of those games are in theory winnable with the top three out of the way. If we are to stay up, we need to beat teams like Norwich, QPR, WBA, and West Ham. If we can't, we must seriously consider that we are not yet ready for the PL. Home form is important, but those unexpected points from away games could give us wriggle room.
Yes, I think 5 wins is possible from that run, along with 2 draw and 3 losses. I even think there is an away win there too. That would be 17 points.
I would be disappointed if we couldn't get something from west Ham or QPR especially as we should have strong away support at both games!
Just seen this article which sums everything up quite well. https://twitter.com/intent/user?ori...otballFanCast&source=followbutton&variant=2.0
We lost one league game at home in 2011 (in our last league home game of the year) and got the joint longest post war record of consecutive home wins with Liverpool I believe (we would be top but for Bart's howler against Blackpool). We need to replicate this sort of form, obviously it won't be as good as that but we need to make St Mary's feel like a fortress like it used to feel like.
Southampton V Aston Villa (W) Everton V Southampton (L) Southampton V Fulham (D) West Ham V Southampton (D) Southampton V Tottenham (L) West Brom V Southampton (W) Southampton V Swansea (W) QPR V Southampton (W) Southampton V Newcastle (D) Southampton V Norwich (D) That's my prediction. Can seriously see us getting something at QPR and West Brom. Leaves us with 16 points going into December, would not be the end of the world.
