I made the point on another thread that NCFC owes Grant Holt a lot but Grant Holt owes NCFC a lot and the fact that he realises that is evident in his attitude. As the article says at 28 he was playing in Div 2 and despite being with many clubs had never really played above Div 1. He came to Norwich, then in Div 1, and the rest is history but other Div 1 Clubs, including Colchester, were after him and he must realise that had he gone there he still would probably be in Div 1. NCFC and Paul Lambert have given him the chance he was craving and his love of the Club because of that is obvious. It also helps that he , deservedly, is adored by the supporters. 20 minutes at Anfield, Old Trafford etc or 90 minutes at Accrington or Macclesfield? Div 1 wages at Colchester or Premiership wages at City? No wonder he will never moan at the Club or PL.

George Best was asked if he had any jealousy of footballers from this era. He said he didn't begrudge them the money at all. In fact he pointed out that he was the top earner in British football and earning far more than the factory worker. And yes he was out of order at times by going AWOL.
However, he pointedly reminded, he never moaned about playing too much, of getting kicked up the arse, of staying in expensive hotels on away trips or having to play on a Saturday after an away international on a Wednesday.
Privileged is what a professional footballer is. And Holt has the humanity to recognise that.
