I didn’t pick my name by chance, it is how I feel life is as a Q.P.R. supporter. We thunder along out of control, racing up and down, hurtling around blind corners. Personally I wouldn’t have it any other way. Comebacks, like last nights, are all part of this experience. So how does this one compare with other comebacks that spring to mind.

Q.P.R. 5 – 5 Newcastle. September 1984. Inspired by Chris Waddle Newcastle were 4 - 0 up at half time, we were dead and buried. Bannister, Wharton (og) and Gregory pull it back to 3 – 4 before Wharton made amends for his own goal by stretching Newcastle’s lead with a strike that should have knocked the stuffing out of Rangers. Wicks responded almost immediately and Gary Micklewhite coolly lobbed Carr in the Newcastle goal to level with virtually the last kick of the match. This was a tremendous fight back coming quickly after a heavy defeat at Spurs the week before, but was early in the season and not under the intense pressure of the modern day game.

Port Vale 4 – 4 Q.P.R. January 1997. Rangers were 4 – 0 down again at half time including a trademark Matt Brazier own goal. Port Vale returned the compliment and scored for us in the second half but with 5 minutes to go the score was still 4 – 1. Andy Impey produced a stunning strike to pull the score back to 4 – 2 and set up a barnstorming finish. Murray calmly chipped the ball over Musslewhite and the Spencer forced the ball over the line in the 90th minute to complete the comeback. This late, late comeback has to be placed into context that it was in a league lower and not played with the back drop of impending relegation.

Derby 2 – 2 Q.P.R. August 2010. This one should be instantly recallable for everyone. With 90 minutes on the clock we were trailing 2 – 0 to Derby. Agyemang powered through the defence to pull a goal back in the 92 minute before Jamie Mackie slotted home to secure an incredibly unlikely draw. The team would have been brimming with confidence before this match after starting the season with 3 straight wins, and it did propel us off on an undefeated run that lasted until December, but again it was early in the season without excessive pressure.

Q.P.R. 3 – 2 Liverpool. Last night. With only 10 matches remaining in the season and in one of the relegation positions we were losing 2 – 0 at home to a Liverpool side chasing a European place with 15 minutes to go. Goals from Derry, Cisse and Mackie (again) turned the match around to secure 3 very valuable points in the battle against the drop. Even allowing for the natural tendency to regard recent events as more important than older events, this comeback, the only one that resulted in a victory, is surely our greatest. Before the match the players must have been low in confidence, struggling under the pressure of relegation back to the Championship and were coming off the back of an appalling run of results and with a very difficult series of matches ahead, I don’t think that they can be praised highly enough.

    Does anyone see it differently?

If last nights proves to be the turning point in the season it will definitely be the most important comeback for us ever. If not I don't think it will be remembered in the same way as theNewcastle and Port Vale games, simply because of the scoelines, you don't see 5-5 or 4-4 that often or turn over 4 goal deficits.
For the record, I really believe we have turned the corner and the last 13 minutes of last nights game will be looked back on for years to come as the foundation fora generation of top flight footy.

Thanks Roller! Last night's must be the best of these for me as we won, where in the others got only the draw! Also this was probably the most important game, of the ones you list, and if it helps keep us up it must be our greatest ever comeback!

Unbelievable that anyone can exclude our greatest ever come back and in the game to produce our only trophy of note.
WBA 2 QPR 3, March 1967 of course.
I feel very old this morning.

****! You are of course completely right. The fact that is was "before my time" is no excuse, I can't claim to be unaware of the match! :emoticon-0111-blush

Morning all. I'm still somewhat shell-shocked after last night. How we contrived to lose a two goal lead with 15 minutes left, I don't know, but in any case, many congratulations on an excellent win. You did what good teams do and kept believing and playing. We did not. Well played <ok>

Cheers RHC, it is great to see real footy fans out there. And Scousers are nearly always real great fans. Hope you have a great rest of the season

Cheers RHC, I don't think anybody saw that coming. ( Except for me, I never stop believing. ) for 77 minutes Liverpool were the best side I've seen at Loftus Road.

I took my first bite of humble pie last night, doesn't taste nice but it will be worth the whole pasty if we carry on in the same way to the end of the season.

Still think this will only be a blip but all credit to the team for sticking to the task. Interesting that all our goals came after Barton left the pitch.

If this turns out to be the catalyst for the great escape it will be one of our greatest comebacks ever. If we stay up on goal difference or by one or two points we can look back on this as the pivotal moment of the season and it will be a comeback you could put on a par with the 67 League Cup win...

Also, in the context of comebacks, what about all the fools who left at 2 nil down?!! Unbelievably stupid. You spend £50+ to watch your team, desert them when down and miss the best value £50+ quid for many a year. Words fail me!

You forgot A home match Vs Preston. Very similar to Derby, 2-0 down, Ainsworth scored a volley on 90+1 mins and Blackstock got one 2 mins later. Great game!

I fear there is a pattern emerging.......

Every game you mention is a year i had a season ticket and every game you mention is a game i missed for some reason or other (Last nights being the latest)

My mates think i'm a 'bok' and dont want me coming any more :(

Yeah, there were guys around me leaving with 20 minutes to go. I couldn't believe it but they have paid a heavy price, missing a climax that will probably go down in QPR folklore.
