Really are **** hot, in fact at the moment we have 3 really good one's.... We once had Martin Fulop, and if anyone saw his performance against Arsenal on Sunday (possibly one of the worst g'k displays on record), will agree what we have at present is pretty damn good.. Poor Martin, every time i see the replays i cringe for him..
Maybe just 2 left according to Daily Mail O'Neill tells Sunderland's record signing Gordon told he can leave Black Cats this summer By Colin Young PUBLISHED: 17:16 EST, 14 May 2012 | UPDATED: 04:17 EST, 15 May 2012 Comments (0) Share Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has told Scotland international Craig Gordon he can leave the club. The record British signing is out of contract at the Stadium of Light and has played just one game in the last 18 months. Belgium keeper Simon Mignolet, who is due to play England before Euro 2012, has been established as the Sunderland No 1 under O'Neill this season. Black listed: Gordon has been told he can leave Sunderland The Sunderland boss wants competition from Republic of Ireland keeper Keiren Westwood, who is expected to fight for his place next season after losing his place through illness on New Year's Day. Gordon has attracted interest from Scottish champions Celtic although his £35,000-a-week wages could put them off. There are also concerns about Gordon's fitness after he spent so much of the last three years recovering from serious injuries. Firm favourite: Mignolet has claimed the No 1 jersey as his own Mignolet, who made three outstanding saves in the final day defeat to Manchester United, said: 'It's way too early for me to say that I have shown people in England that I'm a top goalkeeper. 'I learn new things in every game and in every day's training. 'Since I arrived at the club, I played the majority of games and as a goalkeeper that's what you want to do. I am going to work hard in pre-season once again and show the gaffer that I am ready to play again.' More...Everything's O'Shea! Problem being... There was a post recently, by MonsMush, who was talking to fans from other clubs, and it seems Mig has caught the eye of people elsewhere.... It maybe nothing, but what if a club like Arsenal, (wou don't seem to be blessed with decent g/k's at present) come sniffing around?
With Gordon I suspect it's as much about his wages and clearing a space for new signings as it is about fitness concerns, and the fact that we have 2 other good keepers.
Personally I think we have the best "set" of keepers for the squad in the league - i.e. our number 2 is better than all other number 2 GK's - Westwood looked superb when he played - And Mignolet, whilst he still has flaws, is turning out to be an excellent keeper as well - if either of them were picked for a game, I would have no qualms about it (actually if any of the 3 were picked I wouldn't be worried!)
