Following on from a comment by shiny who said that the short term fixture list doesn't look very promising I ask all of you to look at our fixtures for the rest of the season and tell me how many of those games do you seriously think we can win? I am, of course, basing my concerns on our current squad and realistically think we are only in with a shout against Sheff Wed and Barnsley. Now it doesn't take a footballing genius to see that that would be automatic relegation under any rules but it gets worse if you look at all our other opponents for the rest of the season. When you are sitting where we are in the division all opponents look formidable and the quest for survival points becomes a nightmare in the extreme. All matches prior to the home game vs Barnsley are minefields for City and without some shock wins we could be done and dusted before we even trot out onto the pitch to face the Tykes. If by that game we are still where we currently sit then I believe that relegation is a certainty and the rest of the season could be a troubled scenario in every aspect of life at Bristol City. Can the current transfer window be our saviour and transform what, to be quite honest, is a very poor situation? Many questions need to be answered over the next few weeks and only then will we know whether Derek can save us ,and solely from my own point of view I think it's a no-hoper. The type of players that become available during the window are usually ones that are being moved on by their existing employer and their commitment can usually be brought in to question. However there is always the possibilty of a few hidden gems coming to the surface, possibly through loan deals, and let's hope that Derek's shovel is capable of digging deep beneath the surface but again I have my doubts. Our real season, which officially started in August, starts again after the cup game at Blackburn and the long term future of B.C.F.C. hangs in the balance, and if the ship can't be turned around then we will be again heading in to the abyss probaly for quite some time. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that we can survive and prosper.
If I have to see the article on the Bristol City page on BBC Sport regarding the renaissance of Jody Morris under the tenure of Derek McInnes anymore I will scream!. If you want to see our crisis in a nutshell, and have a good laugh, then go and read it.
Hi Mike and Happy New Year ! As I've put on another thread, the board and SL as owner now need to be accountable for this situation we are in, which they have created. Therefore my advice to them is to put their bloody hands in their pockets and release some real money to keep us in this division.
Happy New year to you too angelic. It's a bloody mess isn't it and I can't think of anyone within Bristol City who can fix the problems that have been staring us in the face for too long. Even scarier is that I don't know of anyone who seems to care that we are heading down the toilet and the next flush could see us disappear down the sewer for many years. Surely someone has to step up and say I will take responsibilty for our failings and I will make the commitment, unequivocably, to the supporters that this will not be allowed to continue on my watch. There's only one person in my mind that needs to return to the forefront of Bristol City Football Club and it isn't Derek McInnes.
P.S. Angelic. Will the pocket book be opened? I have my doubts that if it is we will just end up wasting more money.
How did Neil Danns do for you. His loan has now ended, we don't think he has a future here so aslong as you and Danns could agree on wages then I don't think a permanent deal is impossible
He was brilliant, our fans love him and he is a gentleman,if our manager can I'm sure he will try to secure him, most of us hope a deal can be done....
Apparently he said after the game vs Millwall that he wanted to thank the City fans for their support which may indicate that his time at Ashton gate is over. Anybody else have more news on Danns future plans?
This thread is all very well, but fails to take into account the fact that everyone in this league can beat everyone else. If the adult Bristol City turn up we can probably fight our way to safety, but if the spoilt children BCFC play then we can kiss its ass goodbyeeee PS Danns was a positive step, but doesn't solve the on-going prblem which has haunted us for years, which is the defence. Its not rocket science, and we can all see it. Fontaine is Div 2 standard, and our other central defensive options are just as bad...
