They need to be given a run of games in defence, not at Right-back or midfield, in their proper positions, they can be our new Rio and Vidic, i genuinely believe that, they're still young as well, they're good enough for us, also i reckon we need to sign an experienced defender, just to help them as well.

Rest of the season, Evans and Jones. They are, by far, the best potential partnership. Smalling has fallen short, he is not good enough to be a high quality centre half. I do think though that we need to buy one out of the very top drawer and one another, to replace the outgoing Ferdinand and Vidic. Toni Kroos can bring his brother along as the other, not sure on who the top drawer one is but we could do with a worldy to partner Jones long term.

I actually rate Smalling and believe that his progress has been hindered by his continual use at right back. He still has lapses in concentration and needs to improve his distribution but I believe he will come good. I agree with you about getting another quality centre back though as you can't lose two quality centre backs without any replacement.
