http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ar...ort-shouldnt-special-case--Martin-Samuel.html At the bottom.. I wonder how many other clubs had 5 players who have come through their youth system in their match day squad on Saturday? Also did he miss the news we might sign at least 4 of the players "passing through" Guess so as we aren't that important to these guys so they don't need to check up on facts (we knew about the cost cutting of the Academy a whille back..)
Sadly it reflects the state of journalism in the UK these days. It now comes to hacks just making up sound bites and reporting them as facts - just look at the mess the BBC are in because of it....no doubt if we turn our season around and our squad reduces, he will be all over Watford like a cheap suit spouting on how he "discovered" the Watford project. It's another reason not to buy newspapers...
I'd even argue against his assertion that we 'downgraded our academy' from Category 1 to Category 3. We never actually were a Category 1 academy - we simply didn't apply to become one when applications became necessary.
Happily this article won't bother me at all. It's in the Dail Mail...I'd rather read the Worm Breeder's Review...
Oh wow, that paper again! Not sure I'd wipe my arse with that rag, considering the cr@p already in it! As someone mentioned, we were never category 1 to start with, we just decided to to invest the extra £1m or so into it, as didn;t think it owuld be financially viable. Plus the fact that that very same discarded academy contributed 3 started and 3 subs. 6 out of 18 - so a third of the squad. I wonder how many other teams can boast that! But then that wouldn't really make an interesting headline....
what a potz...he obviously has been wronged by Watford at some point...pah...idiot! And yep...those 'passing through' players will be ours in January because they want to play for Watford!
Worms are fascinating creatures. In fact there is currently a big debate about which is better for composting vegetable and garden waste. This link may interest you. http://www.landesbioscience.com/journals/worm/about/
We also did not want to be forced into playing in the youth leagues that have been set up. We are quite comfortable playing the matches arranged currently. I think the majority of fans are happy with what is happening, there were worries about the number of loans, but i have spoken to FF, Pudil, Anya, Vydra and Chalobah and all would love to stay with us permanently or for the season in Chalobah's case, so there is every chance they will sign in Jan/May
I wanted to make a comment with the Maily Dail but I wrote much and the newspaper wanted me to make an account with them.
I was going to ask which ones we were going to try to sign on a permanent basis and i am happy with the five you mention. What will the deal be with transfer fees & wages though? Hopefully they will be sensible for a club of our current stature.
I love the fact he seems to suggest results aren't the most important thing in the game...then why do the media spend hours talking about which manager ought to be sacked because his team aren't doing well!? Also I understand he is a West Ham fan so probably bitter when they had Zola,Nani and Duxbury the plan was to spend big whereas this is a much more realistic and sensiable plan.
The four previously mentioned last week as being in negotiations - and eager - to sign permanently in January are FF, Pudil, Abdi and Vydra. I'd like to think that Geijo, Anya and Ekstrand could be added to that group too.
True enough, CM...perhaps the Bus-Spotters Almanac would have offered a more suitable alternative. I can't complain about the efforts of the worms in my own compost.
Good as it always is to have Daniels inside information, doesnt anyone else wonder if most of them would really want to be here for an English Winter(unless have no other offers),glamorous as the club is. Theo,do you find the magazine you mentioned helps get rid of 'em ? My wife would really like to know.
I'm sure Mrs N has many fine qualities, Nick, and comparisons - especially vehicular - are of course odious
'Potz' a lovely word but too polite for Samuel, however, it's such a good word I shall use it twice today...
