Anyone have a Scooby as to who our first choice forward line will be? Assuming MM goes for the big man/little man combo, then you have either Murphy, McLean or Nouble, with either Chops or McGoldrick. If they were all match fit, I'd like to see Nouble and Mcgoldrick start...with power and pace, defenders will absolutely sh!t themselves.
I'm confused as to how Mick plans on fitting all this players in as none are real goalscorers or real target men either. Chopra and Murphy are the most traditional big man little man combo in my eyes. McGoldrick is 6ft3 but isn't a target man nor is he the typical on the shoulder of the defender type striker who's main role is to be in the team to score goals, he's not a classic number 9 but then he's not a hold up player either. I think he prefers being slightly behind the main striker perhaps a similar style player to Stead or Wickham where they don't really fit the mould of a target man but are decent footballers and have a good all round game. I think McLean is a Kuqi type character but smaller, all about work rate speed and strength but with little quality!! And Nouble is a bit of an Enigma, probably a combination between Kuqi and Haynes!! I'd imagine he'll be more of an impact sub this season!! I'd like to see Chopra given a run in the side with a partner upfront as I do think he's our only real goalscorer out of the 10 strikers we have on our books, either with McGoldrick, Murphy or JET. I get the feeling it'll be Murphy McGoldrick tomorrow!!
I think mcgoldrick will be a given and as we know has form. I'm with you ptc and would like to see chops in and given a good run to and show us he is more than good enough.
i would go for murphy and chopra. murphy has been decent all season when up front and i think chopra could start firing them in if he can get a run of games, he's played well when he has come on recently and was decent against villa
For all Chopras woes, I also think (hope) he could do better with a strike partner. McGoldrick to start though for me to see if he has the same form against better defenders.
